A rare and very large double-sided stamp seal, dating to the 3rd. millenium BC. The seal is most possibly Sumerian, since one side looks like a smaller version of the famous Sumerian ceramic text tablets. The other side shows the image of a 4-legged animal. The seal has a flat design and is 29 mm. long and c. 21-22 mm. wide. It's pierced for supension. An extremely rare seal, that should be studied carefully. Superb gemstone in mottled pink and white. Priest standing before the alter of Marduk with unidentified items in his hands, offering goat beneath. Six rayed star, bulls head and a winged sun disk. Old collection mounting of brass with the letter Q. Size: 17-18 mm. Condition: Pristine. Provenance: Ex Oliver Antique. Ex Swedish private collection - purchased during the 1950s at Viktoria Lindströms Antikhandel, Stockholm. Her business card in the collection together with notes. An XL Nishapur ceramic plate or dish. The vessel has white underglaze with calligraphic inscriptions in black and red. Bowls and plates including bold inscriptions in the so-called kufic angular calligraphy were produced in the important ceramic centers of Nishapur in eastern Iran. The text often contains a proverb in Arabic or a series of wishes. The plate measures 27,5 cm across / 10,8 inches.
