The Pacific coast that lies between Los Angeles and San Francisco, is more than just a pretty view – it’s towns are home to a wide variety of antique stores. The towns of Carmel, Monterey, and Pacific Grove, contain about 40 antique stores in all. Monterey is best known for Cannery Row but is now a destination for antique-lovers, as it contains several antiques malls and numerous individual shops. Pacific Grove, which began in the late 19th century as a Methodist tent camp, also has a few malls and shops.
And if shows and markets are more your pace, the greater Los Angeles area has plenty of those to choose from as well. Some of these include the Antiques Street Fair in the community of Moss Landing, the Historic automobile races, and the Monterey Sports Car Championship, part of the American Le Mans series. No time of year is a bad time to visit this area, but the best way to view is to drive along Ocean View Boulevard or walk the four-mile recreational trail that begins at Cannery Row and ends at Asilomar State Beach.
