A pair of blue and gilt Paris porcelain ovoid vases, signed Deroche, with two handles decorated with medallions. The body of the vases is ornamented with two polychrome cartouches representing two bunches of flowers, with a rectangular brown background on one side, and a white oval medallion on the other. We do not know when Pierre Deroche began to sell porcelain but he appeared for the first time in the list of porcelain merchants in 1801-1802. Maybe Deroche had several porcelain suppliers because he was just a merchant and it seems he was not a decorator. Very good condition. Empire Period, Circa: 1815. Dim: W: 8,3 in - D: 5,1in - H: 15,7in. / Paire de vases de forme balustre en porcelaine de Paris, signée Deroche, à deux anses ornés de médaillons. Les vases à fond bleu et rehaussés d'or sont ornés d'un décor polychrome de bouquets de fleurs dans un encadrement carré sur fond brun d'un côté et de bouquets de fleurs dans un médaillon ovale sur fond blanc de l'autre. The polychrome central medallion represents two antique profiles, while on the back the gold background is ornamented with a laurel crown and some war attributes. Very good condition. A pair of « brûle-parfums » in Vienna porcelain in the shape of a vase with flowers. The upper part, composed of a cassolette with two handles adorned with flowers and of a lid decorated with a multicolored bunch of flowers in relief, is resting on four leaves, with details painted in green and gold, in the center of which is the flowers painted burner. The lid is pierced for perfume. Very good condition. Louis XV Period, Circa: 1750. Dim: W: 6,7 in - D: 3,1in - H: 6,7in. / Une paire de brûle-parfums en porcelaine de Vienne en forme de vases à fleurs. La partie supérieure, composée d'une cassolette à deux anses dont la panse est décorée d'un bouquet, et d'un couvercle orné très finement de fleurs polychromes en relief, repose sur quatre pieds en forme de feuilles réhaussées de vert et d'or au centre desquelles se trouve le brûleur, lui aussi présentant des décors floréaux. A very fine set of French First Empire Porcelain, circa 1804, bearing the signature of the Schoelcher factory. The vast majority of French nineteenth century porcelains, commonly called "Old Paris" are not authored. The workshop of Marc Schoelcher was active at various locations during the years 1798-1834. The Schoelchers had a prominent salesroom on "Boulveard des Italiens" in Paris. Marc Schoelcher was born in 1766 in Fessen-heim, and came to Paris about 1789. He was not only an accomplished porcelain maker, but also a writer of note, publishing a book of the life of Handel and also an artist, and music critic. His son, Victor, was taken into the family business in 1819, and became a friend of Chopin, Berloiz, Pleyel, and George Sands: she speaks of him in "Histoire de ma Vie". A number of Schoelcher's pieces are on display at various museums, including The Metropolitan Museum, New York, and the Limoges, Musee National, in France.
