It is hard to imagine the skill it took to create such a fragile object - especially given the tools the early Mayan artisans had to work with! Mayan, most likely from Belize, ca 500 to 800 AD. Hand-flaked from a transparent type of chert, in what appears to be the shape of a standing lord, with headdress flowing down behind his head. These creations can be a bit enigmatic (almost Rorschach-ish) and subject to modern interpretations that may be less than accurate. 3"L x 1-1/4"W, a few tips missing since antiquity, else intact/excellent.
