Stunning! Using ancient beads and an authentic carved steatite scarab, beautiful and wearable necklace. Measuring 29 inches long and comprised of 27 green faience tube beads, 180 tan stone "mummy" beads, 24 rare ancient Mediterranean coral beads and one ancient green glass bead to which has been attached a modern sterling swivel mount to hold a steatite scarab for the Pharaoh Thutmosis IV. Scarab contains the cartouche for Thutmosis - his prenomen "Ra-Kheper-Ra" encircled in an oval, with other glyphs in the field including a Neb (bowl or basket indicating his lordship), Udjat (sacred eye of Horus offering protection) another Neb and Ra-Ra (Sun God). Thutmosis IV was the 8th king of the 18th Dynasty and son of Amenhotep II. Beads and scarab date to the New Kingdom Period, Dynasty 18, Ca 1401 to 1391 BC and were found in Thebes, upper Egypt, in the Valley of the Kings. Choice wearable condition with modern silver lobster-claw catch. Swivel shows how scarabs like this were often used as seals or worn as good luck charms in rings or on necklaces. References suggest that Nagt was the director of the singers who brought every morning white bread to the statue of Amun.
