A linen-backed 19th century wall map of Cheshire Co., NH. Lawrence Fagan travelled to Keene in February of 1857 and stayed at the Eagle Hotel for the 2 years of his project. He visited each town and hamlet in the county, mapping every road, dwelling and edifice of note. • Map is entitled: “Map of Cheshire Co., New Hampshire”. • Map is from actual survey by Lawrence Fagan. • Map is published by Smith & Morley, 517, 519, 521 Minor St., Philadelphia, 1858. • Produced by lithography on 4 sheets of paper mounted on a linen backing; original color. • Original rods. • Bottom Roller with acorn finials is 66” long. • 6 engravings of six local scenes: o Scene of Main St, Keene, from the south. o Engraving of the Eagle Hotel, Keene , where Lawrence Fagan stayed for the 2 years he worked on the project. o Engraving of Monadnock Mountain and Lake. o Engraving of structure in Walpole. o Schoolhouse in Dist.
