This 1920s French Louis XVI style bed is in excellent condition and is made of walnut with some subtle gilded highlights. The carving is not overdone and is quite nice. It features the full fluted columns and carved cartouche that you expect to see. The bed is close to a standard twin but is slightly narrower at 37 inches compared to 39 inches. This is easy to overcome, ask me how. There are several methods to use this bed right away. The bed is in excellent condition and needs no work or repair. This bookcase does have me smitten because it''s special and a glance alone, can tell you as much. Look at the quality of the finish and most importantly the sophistication of the design, canted corners, carving and unusual brass mesh grill work. The finish is much darker in person than the photos show and is much better looking because of that. This is not a country piece, this is decidely formal, but made for a person who loved the solidity and substance that only oak can offer. The bookcase has adjustable shelving and also comes completely apart for set up in any home. This piece dates to the 1880-90 era and is French.
