Splashes of golden autumn colors drip down the middle of the cold, stony rug. Rhombic shapes subdivided at their midpoint give the untamed designs a peaceful symmetry. The golden colors begin to evaporate at the lower regions of the rug, replaced by charred diamonds and splattered red leaves, floating above a fire-like wash of deep gold. Grey threads coil through the edge of the rug. Zig-zag black lines encompassing the design echo the classic North African designs of the post-Islamic Byzantium.
