This is a beautifully patinaed Buffet handcrafted from solid walnut during the middle part of the 17th century topped by its original Mazy Black inset marble sitting upon a nice façade featuring a pair of paneled recessed doors embellished with diamond point ornamentation and revealing an efficient storage compartment with a single shelf, all supported by ball feet. Hardware is in original condition except for the lock and key which are estimated to be from the end of the 18th century. Note several scratches and dents here and there due to the age. Here is a majestic sideboard made from solid walnut by the first half of the 19th century and originally from Lyon. Such piece is commonly called "Dressoir" by the French which must not be confused with "Vaisselier" as such piece usually belonged to wealthy family whom used it to display silverware. Some of those pieces are sometime more than 12" tall. The bigger it is the richer the family was. This handsome piece features a tall upper shelf mounted by a boldly sculpted broken segmental arch centering a finial upon 2 small shelves below supported by bracket and large turned and fluted columns standing above the bottom buffet offering a 2-drawer frieze upon a pair of recessed paneled doors accented with geometrical molding. This item consists of a slightly scrolled serpentine shaped parquet top extendable thanks to matching pull out leaves located at each end, all sitting on an adorable belt supported by boldly sculpted cabriole legs accented with acanthus pattern and standing on escargot feet. This very decorative piece is mounted by an appealing cartouche centering a medallion flanked by pierced carved acanthus leaves standing above the gadrooned frame surrounding the original non-beveled mirror. This pair is very interesting as one is gilded with gold leaf while the other one is silvered with silver leaf. Both are intricately sculpted and adorned with fluted and acanthus patterns and standing on a tripod base. Note that this pair was electrified by the middle part of the 20th century and that the fake candles can be removed. This pair would have to be rewired t the US Standard if you wish to use them as lamps. Several scratches and chips can be seen here and there due to the age.
