Little silver child's learner spoon with curved handle. Marked "Sterling" - originally came from the USA. Has the initial "B" engraved to the finial (or if you look at it upside down, it could be E.F."). Spoon measures 7.4 cm long, bowl is 3 cm wide by 4 cm long. Dates from the 1940s. SOLD Antique 18th century European silver-mounted coconut cup and cover. A coconut carved body with a circular rim, pierced work handles with leaf-form supports, resting on a silver domed foot, decorated in repoussé foliate scrollwork, a domed cover, decorated en suite with the base in repoussé foliate scrollwork design, with a finial cast as a Cupid shooting an arrow with a bow, the mounts apparently unmarked. DIMENSIONS: Height: 13 cm (5 1/8 in). Width across the handles: 10.5 cm (4 1/8 in). Coconuts, while commonplace objects in their native lands, were highly prized and rare objects in Europe. When they first arrived in Europe is not certain, however in 1259 a Bishop of Durham noted, 'cyphum de nuce cum ped et apparatu argenti'. Throughout the following centuries there are further mentions and by the 16th -18th century they regularly appear in the silver inventories of the nobility. For sale is a gorgeous sterling silver repousee three piece set by the firm of Jacobi & Jenkins of Baltimore Maryland. circa 1903. The three pieces consist of a covered sugar, creamer and waste bowl. The covered sugar is approximately 5 3/4" tall to the tip of the finial and 23.21 troy ounces. The creamer is 4 1/4" to the tip of the handle and 12.76 troy ounces. The waste bowl measures 3 3/4" tall and 12.59 troy ounces. the total weight being 48.58 troy ounces. There is a monogram on the bottom that looks like FFW. The repousee work is very beautiful with 3 bands of beading on each piece. The repousee design is a multi floral motif with acanthus leaves on the spout and handles. Marks include the logo for Jacobi & Jenkins, JACOBI & JENKINS, MAKERS, BALTIMORE, STERLING 925/1000 FINE and the letter o. The sugar and waste bowl have the year 1903 inscribed on the bottom. The firm of Jacobi & Jenkins was in business 1894-1908. According to Rainwater, the business was established by A. Jacobi in 1879. The Jacobi family had been silversmiths for seven generations. A. Jacobi received his Master's certificate from the silversmith's guild of Brunswick, Germany in 1858.He also held a medal of honor award from the Academie Nationale in Paris. In 1890 the firm became Jacobi & Co, manufacturing sterling silverware and doing a jobbing trade in the large cities of the country. In 1894 the partnership of A. and W.F. Jacobi with W. Armour and Talbot Winchester Jenkins was formed. The Jenkins brothers had been associated with the jewelry business in Baltimore for years, and were members of one of the oldest families in the state. In 1895 they advertised that they were "the only silversmiths in Maryland making and retailing their own work exclusively - all articles of sterling silver." Excellent condition.   « Less

For sale is a wonderful sterling silver warming dish with cover by Richard Dimes of South Boston MA. c.1908-1923. Approximately 9" in diameter and 3 1/2" high (including finial). The inside measures approx. 7". Both pieces weigh 21.73 troy ounces. Monogrammed MHL on the lid. There are 12 lobes on the dish and 12 lobes on the cover which fits perfectly. There are 6 vent holes on the cover under the finial. Marks are on the bottom dish and include the hallmark for Richard Dimes, 777, STERLING and Irish Reproduction. Very good condition. there are a couple of very small dings to cover but are hardly noticeable and could easily be removed if they bothered you.   « Less
