A very uncommon antique tool cart from a coal mine in West Virginia. The cart is wheeled and has a wagon-type handle on the front, and three drawers along the bottom. The top features a hinged, sloped roof and opens like a trunk. The cart features some very finely designed decorative corner reinforcements. English Georgian period mahogany sideboard with cellarette drawers and tapering legs with spade ends. Sheraton, dating from around 1790. Measures 86.5 cm high by 129.5 cm wide by 57 cm deep (34 inches by 51 inches by 22.1/2 inches). Nice compact size. The two side cellarette drawers have remains of the zinc paper lining, both have drainage holes in bottom. Pine lining to centre drawer. There is satin wood stringing around drawers and centre arch pieces, although there are some areas of this missing. Top has some veneer splits (caused by central heating), and there has been some old restoration to a corner edge of a drawer (see photo) and two other small old veneer restorations at the sides. The centre drawer shows signs of having had a centre drawer-pull at some stage. Handles have been replaced, but quite some time ago. Apart from the centre drawer, there is no sign of any other old attachment holes for these showing on the exterior. Normal splits and small veneer lifts, but this is a genuine, honest, good, serviceable sideboard, with a lovely patina built up over years of polishing. Possibly a country piece. Domestic NZ market for collection only, or arrange your own shipping for overseas.   « Less
