For Sale I have a great piece of pottery made by the Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey. The shape is a Seven Sided Geometrical Vase with a very interesting glaze combination. The Vase measures 8 3/4" tall and is approximately 2 7/8" in diameter. The Vase depicts a superb example of Elephants Breath blending from deep brown to gray in a Flambe or drip from the top rim. This is applied over an Ivory glaze with some grainy texture that resembles Fulper's Oatmeal Glaze. The Vase has a very organic flavor as the glazes are drippy and thick. The Vase actually leans a little one way however it does not detract from its beauty or take away value from the piece. This would look wonderful in any Arts and Crafts or Mission style home. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The Vase is signed on the bottom with the Ink Stamp Rectangle Fulper Mark and dat es it to their earliest time frame. This Vase is known as shape number 445 in the early Fulper Catalog Pages. This Rectangular Ink Stamp mark dates this to the Vasekraft years, Circa 1909-1916. « Less

For Sale I have a nice piece of Arts and Crafts Pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey. The shape is a Low Bowl or Ferner glazed in Mirror Black More »
For Sale I have a nice piece of Arts and Crafts Pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey. The shape is a Low Bowl or Ferner glazed in Mirror Black over Flemington Green. The Ferner measures 2 3/8" tall and is approximately 8 3/4" in diameter at the widest point. The opening of the bowl measures 6 1/2" wide. The Ferner is glazed in a Mirror Black Flambe mottled with Brown over a Flemington Green with some small Crystals on the interior and exterior of the bowl. The exterior of the bowl is a high gloss finish while the interior bottom of the bowl appears to be Semi Matte. There is a wonderful drip affect on both the interior and exterior which just make the bowl stunning and would look great on any Mission piece of furniture. The Ferner is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is a factory flaw on the bottom of the bowl where there is almost like a clay separation that happened during firing. There was probably an imperfection or air bubble in the clay not large enough to cause it to explode during that process. The Bowl is signed on the bottom with the Ink Stamp Rectangle Fulper Mark dating it back to their earliest time frame. This piece is known as shape number 17 in the early Fulper Catalog pages. This Rectangular Inkstamp mark dates this piece to the Vasekraft Years, Circa 1909-1916. « Less

For Sale I have a wonderful piece of pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey. The shape is a Musical Jug that is just gorgeous. The piece measures approximately 9 1/2" tall with the stopper and is 5 1/4" in diameter. The base measures 4 7/16" wide. The Jug displays a Mirrored Black Glaze that starts at the top and is applied to about the waist of the Vessel. The glaze is thick and gloopy and has accents of Blue and Brown. The bottom portion of the jug has an Oatmeal or Butterscotch Flambe glaze that also resembles accents of Copperdust. This piece is a real show stopper and the musical winding mechanism is in perfect working order . There is also an applied Handle that is in the Mirrored Black glaze. The Jug is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is no signature as there is the wooden bottom because of the musical mechanism. This would be an Impressive addition to any Art Pottery Collection and is just a fabulous example of this glaze combination. The surface is textured and the look is frothy. I'm sure the lucky buyer would not be disappointed. The Jug was made Circa 1915-1925. « Less

For Sale I have one of the Rarest pieces of Art Pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey. The item is a known as "The Sleeping Cat" Doorstop. It is the nicest "Sleeping Cat" Doorstop that I have ever seen. The Doorstop measures 9 3/4" wide by 5 5/8" tall and 5 1/2" deep. The Doorstop is done in a Black and Cream Flambé with hints of Chinese Blue Flambé on the back ass end. This Glaze is a 10 out of a 10. Fulper Glazes don't get any better than this. The face of this pretty little Kitty is just Gorgeous!! The Hints of Cream Flambé on her Face, Back of her Head, Left Hind Leg and Left Thigh depicts very realistic colors of a Cat. Just look at her face you Kitty Lovers will agree that she is just beautiful. The Doorstop is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is the tiniest glaze fleck on her top hind quarter and a few minor scratches next to her left arm. I was told there was a invisible professional restoration to one of the ears. I have looked it over very carefully cannot tell which ear it is. There are a few very tiny glaze pin pops on her lower left air and can only be seen upon close inspection. All these issues are mentioned for accuracy sake and do not take away from the Value of this Rare Find. I have had only one others of these in all my 35 years as a Collector and Dealer. I sold it for $1700 about 10 years ago. This one's beauty puts that one to shame. This doorstop is truly that Nice. She weights about 10 lbs. The Piece is signed on the bottom with Fulper's Earliest Ink Stamp mark. That mark was used during the Vasekraft Years and it is the "Fulper" inside a "Vertical Rectangle" Ink Stamp Mark. This dates the piece to their earliest period, 1909-1916. This is known as shape number 466 in Fulper's Catalog. This Doorstop is for the advanced Fulper Collector and I am Positive the Lucky Purchaser will be elated when they receive it. Fulper Pottery won the gold Medal of Honor at the San Francisco Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915. At that time Fulper was producing Doorstops in the form of domestic Animals, inspired by Chinese Tradition. Pottery Doorstops are very Rare. To find one in this Condition with this Fabulous Glaze and Great Subject Matter with virtually no damage is a feat in itself. « Less

For Sale I have a very nice piece of Art Pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Shape is considered a "Swollen Tapered" Form. It is fairly large as it stands 7 1/2" tall and is 6" in diameter at the shoulder. The top opening is 3 7/8" in diameter at the top outside measurement. The inside Hole has an opening of 2 1/4". The Vase has a beautiful form with an even better Glaze. The Vase depicts a nice deep Rick Rose Famille under glaze with and even nicer Sage Green Flambé over glaze. The way the Green Flambé runs from the mouth of the Vessel into the body is a real favorite amongst Fulper Pottery Collectors. When you buy Fulper its all about the Glazes and this one is no exception. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. There are the usually Glaze pin pops at several places around the vase. It is signed with the Vertically Stamped Incised "Fulper" inside and oval racetrack mark. This is somewhat obscured by the Glaze but you can still see it. This piece is Shape number 537 in the Fulper Catalog Pages. Fulper pottery used a incised stamp mark as noted above from around 1916 to approximately 1922. This mark is often found on some of Fulper's better examples. This is a very nice example of this form and glaze and I'm sure the lucky buyer will not be disappointed. This piece would work well in any Mission or Arts and Crafts decor. « Less

For Sale is a extremely Rare piece of Prang Pottery made by the Fulper Art Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Shape is a Utilitarian Shape in that of a Small Coffee Pot More »
For Sale is a extremely Rare piece of Prang Pottery made by the Fulper Art Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Shape is a Utilitarian Shape in that of a Small Coffee Pot with lid. The Coffee Pot stands 5 1/4" Tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter. The Coffee Pot is done in the very sought after "Cats Eye Flambé Glaze". It displays a wonderful mocha brown background glaze that is accented with an almost mirrored black with blue Highlights drip glaze that runs from the top opening and down its sides. The drippy glaze is just outstanding. The pitcher itself is in excellent condition as there are no issues to report. I had the lid professionally restored as it had a fine hairline and a small nick along the rolled edge. This restoration cannot be see with the naked eye. There is a factory chip on the male portion of the lid that extends down into the Coffee Pot. It is Glaze over and was made this way. To find this piece is a feat in itself. To find it with the lid is even a bigger feat. Most of these found do not have their lids. The lid sits loosely and if you don't hold it down with the other hand, the cap will simply fall out of the hole. The piece is signed on the bottom with the PRANG Ink stamp Signature inside a rectangle. Fulper began making Pottery for the Prang Company of New York in 1913. This signature was used for 3 years, from 1913-1916. After 1916 the pieces made for Prang simply bore the "FULPER" in Capital Block Lettering Trademark Signature. From 1913 through 1929, the Prang Company sold Fulper Art ware shapes for use as still-life models for students to sketch or draw. Subsequently there is not a lot of Prang Pottery on the open market. This is a wonderful piece of Art Pottery made by Fulper. It is in a rather hard to find form. It is known as shape number TP65 in the Fulper Catalogue Line. In all my years as a collector/dealer I have only seen 1 other Teapot and was missing its lid. This would look great in any mission, Arts & Crafts style decor home. I sure the lucky buyer will be delighted with their purchase is this piece is considered somewhat rare! « Less

For sales I have a rather hard to find piece of Art Pottery made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The item is called a "Embossed Leaves" Pitcher and it is done More »
For sales I have a rather hard to find piece of Art Pottery made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The item is called a "Embossed Leaves" Pitcher and it is done in the most desirable Cucumber Green Glaze. The Pitcher stands 8" tall and is 7" in diameter from the tip of the Spout to the outside of the Handle.
The Pitcher has one of the nicest Cucumber Green Glazes I have seen on a Hampshire Pottery piece in quite awhile. The Pitcher displays wonderfully embossed Elephant Leaves that wrap around the top half of the vessel. One of the leaves actually folds back along the top opening and it is attached to the Handle. The Handle is also quite interesting. It attached to the body just under the top. It bows out like most Pitcher handles and attaches at the bottom and branches off into 2 sections to form the appearance of Vine. The longer Vine has what looks like a Flower Bud on the end. What a Splendid Realistic Organic Design.
The pitcher is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few pin pops in the Glaze and the inside Water Proofing Glaze shows crazing which is very common with these pictures as they were used more often than the Vases. There are a few areas on the Handle that is a little weaker in the Green Glaze as is the edges near and and around the tip of the spout. The piece is unsigned but it displays that renown Hampshire Pottery bottom White Clay with the nicely ground smooth Green Edge.
Hampshire Pottery started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown.
This is an Early Piece made by Hampshire Pottery as there isn't even a Shape number in the 1916 Catalog Reprint by George Morton who bought Hampshire Pottery in that same year. George Morton was formerly from Grueby Pottery of Boston Mass. I have had this piece before and it had a shape number 34 incised into the bottom.
I would guess this piece was made Circa 1895-1903 as it pre dates the M in a Circle Mark. That Mark was used from 1904-1914 during Cadmon Robertson's tenure. There was no pottery produced from his death in 1914 till 1916, A period of almost 2 years. This will make a wonderful addition to any Matte Green collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase. « Less

For Auction I have an outstanding Matte Green Vase made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The Vase is known as the "Corn Maize" Vase and the Glaze doesn't get More »
For Auction I have an outstanding Matte Green Vase made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The Vase is known as the "Corn Maize" Vase and the Glaze doesn't get any better than this. The Vase is rather large as it stands 5 5/8" Tall and is 6" in diameter. This Vase has one of the Nicest Matt Cucumber Green Hampshire Glazes I have ever seen. The Vase displays Two embossed Ears of Corn Nestled between the Corn Husk Leaves. There is one on each side of the Vessel. The Detail is crisp and the Glaze is thick and nicely mottled. The detail in the Ear of Corn and the Leaves is just outstanding!! You can see the Veining in the leaves and the nice and even vertical rows of corn on the ear. Usually the Glaze on these is so thick you loose the detail. That is not the case with this one. The Vase is considered to be in excellent as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issues do not affect value. There is some silver marks that I was able to remove some with a Pottery Cleaner and there are Come Pin Pops in the Glaze at the very exterior bottom of the vase. These can only be seen when the vase is turned to its side. The Vase is signed on the bottom with one of Hampshire Pottery earliest Matt Green Marks. It is Signed "JS Taft & Co" "KEENE N". The J is very hard to see and you cannot see the letter H for Hampshire. The JS stood for the founder James Scollay. This piece can be dated based on the "M" in a Circle mark knowledge. This was the mark that Cadmon Robertson used during his tenure with Hampshire Pottery from 1904-1914. The mark on this Vase pre-dates Cadmon Robertson's Tenure. I would say that this was an early piece even earlier than Grueby's Mat Green Production. This Vase was made circa 1891-1896. Those collectors in Matte Green Art Pottery especially those who Collect Hampshire and want a Great example should not let this one pass by. It will look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. « Less

For Sale I have a splendid Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made my Hampshire Pottery of Keene, New Hampshire. The Piece is a Ewer and it is done in Hampshire's most Popular Matte Cucumber Greene Glaze. The Ewer is 6 3/8" tall, 6" wide and 4 1/4" deep. This Ewer displays one of the nicest and softest Mottled Cucumber Green Glazes on a Hampshire Piece that I have ever owned. The Glaze doesn't get any better than this!! The Deep Matte Cucumber Green Glaze Rivals any Matte Green Glaze produced by Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. It is signed on the bottom side with the Impressed Hampshire Block Lettering thus dating it to Circa 1916-1917. Hampshire Pottery Marks with the M in a Circle puts the dating between 1904-1914. This piece was made after Cadmon Robertson Death. Thus the Impressed Hampshire in a Horizontal mark is a later mark. This is known as Shape Number 5/2 In the Hampshire Pottery Catalog Line. Hampshire Pottery produced 3 Sizes of this Ewer. This is the smallest and the most Popular of the 3 Sizes. I would consider this an excellent example of this Matt Green Glaze and Shape or Mold Number. Hampshire started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown.
