Boylston Antiques is proud to present This Magnificent Antique American Sheraton Cherry & Mahogany Veneer Dressing or Serving Table C. 1810. • The top and drawer front of this table is covered in a vibrant flame mahogany veneer with a rich patina. • The table base and legs are composed of cherry wood. • The back or reverse side of the table and some of the under supporting pieces are made of pine. • The ring-turned, vasiform legs terminate in button feet. • The 4 inch backsplash is cut in a serpentine curve. • The drawer is opened by two 1 ¼ inch diameter wooden knobs. • The key escutcheon is made of brass and the lock mechanism is in place. The key has not survived. • The drawer fronts are dovetailed to the drawer sides and the drawer bottom is chamfered (see photos). Measurements: 29 1/4 inches floor to table top. 33 ¼ inches floor to backsplash top. 31 ½ inches wide 18 ¼ inches deep • There is a small veneer chip on the top left facing corner of the drawer front (see photo). • The mahogany veneered top has an age crack across the center of the surface (see photo). This crack is consistent with veneered furniture of this age, as different woods may not shrink at the same rate. • The top shows some small areas of discoloration, consistent with antique furniture. See photographs of table top. This dressing/serving table may be picked up in Boylston, MA. We can arrange for delivery within 100 miles.
