Boylston Antiques is Proud to Offer for Sale
A Set of 6 Chippendale Style Mahogany Needlepoint Chairs 1st Q 20th C.
A set of six Chippendale Style Mahogany Ribbon Back Dining Chairs, 5 Side and 1 Arm, with needlepoint seats.
• The 6 needlepoint seats are done in lovely complimentary patterns, each one slightly different but composing a harmonious set.
• The needlepoint background is linen white with a floral wreath motif composed of rose and green with touches of magenta, blue and yellow.
• The deep, upholstered sprung seats are padded with horsehair and studded with wide-headed upholstery nails along each chair rail.
• The mahogany frames are reasonably sturdy; the 3 back slats are pierced and carved in the famous ribbon design and exhibit a deep, rich surface patina.
• The front legs and chair rails are fluted.
• The arms of the armchair are serpentine, terminating in scrolled hand-holds.
• There is a single stretcher between the front and back legs, a single stretcher between the 2 back legs and a center stretcher between the 2 side stretchers. The center stretcher of almost all of the chairs has been considerably chewed by dog teeth.
• The crest rail height is 40†from the floor.
• The seat sits 19†from the floor.
• The seat is 22†wide.
• The seat depth is 17â€.
• The width of the arms on the armchair is 26 ¼â€.
These chairs are in reasonable condition. The surface patina is nicked and worn, as expected in chairs approaching 100 years of age. The chairs are in sturdy shape for this age of chair. The seats exhibit some discoloration. 4 of the chairs are missing the fluted front surface board on the front seat rail. 3 of the chairs are missing the left and right side fluted surface boards of the chair rails. (See photos). With the heavy upholstery, the chair rails are not very noticeable.
These chairs may be picked up in Boylston, MA. Pick up expected within 14 days of close of auction; items not picked up within 30 days are subject to forfeiture.

Boylston Antiques is Proud to Offer for Sale
An Impressive George Hunzinger Mahogany Flip Top Yacht Game Table C. 1890’s.
This superb round gaming table has a mahogany veneered top which reverses to reveal a gaming table with a green baize surface, surrounded by wells for gaming pieces.
George Hunzinger was a furniture maker who emigrated to the United States from Germany in 1855. He manufactured uniquely designed furniture in New York City during the latter half of the 19th century. He patented his innovative designs. This gaming table is U.S. Patent No. 522014, granted on June 26, 1894.
• Mahogany Table top measures 40 1/2†in diameter. The top is composed of a richly veneered mahogany with a wonderful patina.
• The green baize gaming top measures 31†in diameter, surrounded by a 3†diameter well for gaming pieces.
• There are 2 spring-hinged compartments to securely hold gaming pieces when table is flipped to the mahogany side; one of the mahogany lids has a slot in the center for chips or coins. The compartments are 1 ¾†in depth.
• The table stands 29†high from the floor.
• The 4 legged base terminates in 3-toed paw feet.
• There is a mahogany veneered Saltier stretcher astride the center of the base. This stretcher has wonderful concave curves on all 4 sides. Veneer on stretcher top shows a wear or age imprint of the crossed leg supports beneath.
• The table top swivels on rods through 2 of the 4 leg top terminals.
• The other 2 leg top terminals have a metal spring-loaded catch mechanism which holds the table top in place and allows it to swivel when the catch is depressed.
• Each table leg terminal is adorned with a brass rosette.
• The legs are beautifully curved and composed of a richly patinated mahogany.
• All veneers are over less valuable woods; not particle board.
• The brass Hunzinger Name Plate, with the Patent Date of June 26, 1894, is affixed to the very bottom of the stretcher.
This is a fabulous table for those with limited space, as the table can double as a dining table, then be reversed to form a gaming table. This table was commonly used on yachts for its functionality. It would also be a great addition to any gaming room!
Condition – There is an approximately 5/8†blemish on the mahogany surface of the table top (see photo). It is small and not particularly noticeable. The top areas which rest on the brass spring mechanism when the table is reversed display some wear (see photos).
All items are sold "as is". This is an antique piece of furniture; small nicks and scratches are part of the beauty of an antique and are not described unless significant.

New England country pumpkin pine hand made hand hewed and pinned dining table made from antique pine .This wonderful hand made hand hewed farm house table was made from three More »
New England country pumpkin pine hand made hand hewed and pinned dining table made from antique pine .This wonderful hand made hand hewed farm house table was made from three wide 18th century pine boards straight tapered legs, bread board ends and wooden pin construction by a local master craftsman that has agreed to painstakingly make hand made tables in the early American 18th century manner. These are tables who's size and quality and design we can just not find in our daily searches for fine antiques. They are made by hand with antique block planes which give that lovely hand hewed look. Each tables size is determined by the size of the 18th century board we find, no two will be the same. Early boards have the most beautiful deep rich patina which simply can not be duplicated with new boards. The top board retains all its original wear and old pot mark which gives it the true period look that is the most desirable. This table measures 99 inches long, 42 inches deep, and 29 inches high. This table would be just perfect in a country kitchen or dining room.

Boylston Antiques is Proud to Offer for Sale
An American Empire Hitchcock Chair C. 1826-1843
A black and gold painted and stenciled, rush-seated “Hitchcock†style American Empire period chair. Paint appears to be original, as much wear has occurred over the years. The rush seat is in wonderful shape.
• The turned and reeded top crest rail has the distinctive Hitchcock pillow shape in the center, once ornamented with classical gold stenciling which has largely worn off.
• The wide, curving center slat of the back has a classical gold stencil composed of pomegranates and leaves.
• The narrower, lower slat is painted with two bell flowers centered on a classical gold line adorned with triple gold balls on each side and terminating in spear points.
• The back is nicely flaired; the stiles descend in a continuous sabre arch to form the rear legs.
• The rounded stiles are flattened on the front to hold more decorative stenciling; the right stile facing has a stencil of grape leaves and a pinecone; the left front facing stencil has largely worn off.
• The legs and front stretcher are turned and reeded.
• The legs terminate in button feet.
• The crest rail height is 34†from the floor.
• The seat sits 18†from the floor.
• The seat is 18†wide at the front, narrowing to 14 ½†wide at the rear.
• The seat depth is 14 3/4â€.
• The crest rail width at the top is 16 ½â€.
This chair is in as found condition. The surface patina is nicked, worn and flaked, as expected in a chair approaching 180 years of age. The chair is in reasonably sturdy shape for this delicate style of chair.
This chair may be picked up in Boylston, MA.
