Sterling 925 Elephant miniature is on green marble base, circular, with mark engraving 925 on base & on side of elephant. Very likely gold plated, as it shows, with two ruby glass eyes, and bone whiskers. Pretty sterling silver Victorian bowl, quite deep, standing on four well-detailed pad feet. It has an ornate scrolled rim. Maker is William Wise & Son (New York, USA). Stamped Sterling, with lion mark and pattern number. Made circa 1882-1903. It measures 7.5 cm high, 16 cm wide and 13 cm deep (3 inches by 6.1/4 inches by 5.1/8 inches). Initials engraved in script on one side underneath the rim "E.P.A." (could be E.J.A.). Condition is very good - a few little marks inside the bottom of the bowl from use, and one foot could possibly do with a slight bending to give it a more even stance (a very easy job for a silversmith). Weight is 195 grams.   « Less

Beautiful sterling silver gravy ladle by the Whiting Manufacturing Company of New York NY. The pattern is called Imperial Queen and is approximately 7 1/2" long. The bowl measures 2 7/8" x 2". It weighs approximately 3 troy ounces. Marks include the logo for the Whiting Manufacturing Company, STERLING, PAT. 1893, MERMOD(with the rest of the word or words undistinguishable. The Whiting Manufacturing Company of New York NY was in business between 1866 and 1926. They were a major manufacturer of fine quality flatware and holloware. The company was absorbed into the Gorham Company in 1926. Very good condition.   « Less

This outstanding cut glass dresser jar has a sterling silver top with the mark of Frank Whiting. The jar is about 3-1/2" high, 4-1/2" in diameter at the bottom. The sterling top is a little over 3" in diameter and slides down tightly over the glass base (there is no screw track at the neck). The glass blank is thick and heavy, and the jar with the top weigh about 1-1/2 pounds. There is a large star cut into the base of the glass which matches the stars cut all around the sides. The sterling top alone weighs over 1.7 troy ounces or 34.9 dwt. or 54.3 g. The condition of the base is excellent, and I have not found any chips or cracks or other faults. The sterling top is in great condition with just two tiny pin pricks on the side at the neck, one of which is visible in the picture. This piece dates to about 1890-1900, so it is in great condition for its age. It would make a beautiful addition to a dresser top collection.   « Less

Table napkin clip, made in sterling silver and carrying a British hallmark for Birmingham 1911. Maker is William Vale & Sons. Clip measures 33 mm by 13 mm diameter at the round clip end. (Napkin clips were made with a hooked end to be fitted over one's collar. There is a silver ring which slides up and down the stem of the clip - the round area opens when the ring is pushed up near the hook - you insert the corner of your napkin between the two discs and push the ring back down the stem. This tightens the two discs together, and hold the napkin securely in place.)   « Less

Seriously cute sterling silver antique photo frame - embossed silver, swags, scrolls etc, mounted onto dark blue velvet. Internal size of frame is 12.75 cm by 9 cm. Whole item is 17.5 cm by 13 cm. Easel foot rear. Has a British hallmark for sterling silver, Birmingham 1902. Maker's mark is W.O. Condition: there is fading to the velvet - and when one polishes this type of frame where the velvet show around the edges, polish inevitably gets onto the fabric and hardens it. Easel foot hinge is not perfect. There is a dent to the central cartouche at the top of the frame, and other signs of age and use. A very pretty frame, nicely mellowed by age.   « Less
