A Pierre Chapo massive elm commode, of a rectangular shape, with seven drawers. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) is born in a family of craftmen. After his regular studies, he worked for some time in the workshop of a navy carpenter. He was graduated architect in 1958 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, after having travelled in the United States and in Europe. He opened his own workshop first in Clamart as well as a shop in Paris. His work was inspired by Charlotte Perriand. Ten years later he settled down in Gordes, where he based the Société Chapo. He then dedicated himself mainly to his work as a carpenter and a cabinetmaker and gave a serie of lectures about his great passion, wood. Very good condition. Design Period, Circa: 1965. A Pierre Chapo massive elm low table. Of a very simple shape, the peculiarity of this piece of furniture is the orange enameled lava plate covering the top of the table. The mounting and the wood work are of a very good quality. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) is born in a family of craftmen. A Warren Platner (1919) high-back lounge chair structured with steel wire frames waisted to shape the base and a fiberglass shell, reupholstered in red wool cotton fabric. Manufactured by Knoll, 1966. This model is not edited anymore. Warren Platner (1919-) graduated from the Cornell University School of Architecture in 1941. Following his work with legendary designers Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei, he immersed himself in the creation of steel wire furniture. Notable among his residential and commercial projects are the Georg Jensen Design Centre and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Centre, both in New York City. Very good condition. This is a very cute Prayer Chair made from solid beech wood by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. This adorable piece is representing the Easter Cross as its was depicted in Europe with the black Cross mounted with drape and the tools used to torture and kill Christ. Such representation is very common especially in France and Italy. Note that the fabric must be replaced and that a small part of the spear is missing. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 37"high/ 11"seat height/ 19"wide/ 17"deep.
