Extraordinary antique painting on ivory in original frame with original crystal cover, signed A. Jahn (S. Albert Carl Alexander Jahn, Swiss artist 1841 - 1886). The painting measures 3 1/2 inches high by 2 3/4 inches wide. This is painted so well it looks almost like a photograph. The painting depicts a gentleman in formal dress. From the top of the frame ring to the bottom it measures 4 1/2 inches. Frame width size 3 inches. This artist only lived 45 years. His achievement as a portrait painter is clearly demonstrated in this very lifelike portrait. His works are very rare and seldom offered for sale. It is in excellent condition in the original frame. Each plaque is beautifully painted depicting a man and woman in 18th century dress. One plaque depicts a beautiful lady and handsome gentlemen wearing fin 18th century clothing. The other plaque may be her maid servant since she's wearing an apron and a gentlemen leaning forward to whisper in her ear. He is not dressed quit as formally as the gentleman in the other plaque. These were obviously painted as a pair to show that royalty and servants are both interested in the same things. Both paintings are very lifelike and beautifully painted. The plaques measure 9-7/8 inches high by 6 inches wide. The frame size is 12-1/4 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide. Both plaques are perfect. The gentlemen's portrait is signed along the middle right an d the lady's portrait is signed above her shoulder in the lower right as well. The portrait miniatures have a diameter of 1-5/8 inches. They have a metal inner frame and a wood outer frame. The outer frames have a diameter of 3-1/8 inches. Both portrait miniatures and their frames are in excellent condition. Exquisite antique painting on porcelain plaque depicting a partially nude psyche in the garden. The garden has fruits and flowers, and 3 other people. Two women and a man are showing Psyche the garden. At her feet rests a peaceful goat. In the background are grazing sheep and landscape. The plaque has an unusual shape as well as being a rare model. The back has in blue glaze, the Royal Vienna beehive mark and is titled also. It has incised letters and numbers on the back . It is set in a burgundy velvet and gold leaf frame with a gold filet bordering the plaque. The plaque is in excellent condition with no damage or losses. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. This is a wonderful mythological composition, painted with old master style colors that are very vibrant and beautiful. Exquisite antique royal portrait of Marie de Hainaut. Marie de Hainaut was the daughter of Jean II, Comte de Hainaut et Hollande and Philippa de Luxembourg. She married Louis I de Clermont, Duc de Bourbon, son of Robert de France, Comte de Clermont and Beatrice de Bourgogne, circa September 1310 at Pontoise, France. She died circa August 1354 at Chateau de Murat. The portrait depicts Marie in her regal attire, a beautiful gold and jeweled crown, superb gold jeweled collar, Ermin robe, and her dress decorated with fleur de lis and a black lion. This is the only known portrait on porcelain of this important French royal. The quality of the painting is so lifelike that she really looks alive. When you look closely her eyes appear to be looking right through you. The painting is in excellent condition mounted in a gilt wood antique frame. The frame has some minor cracks that could be filled to make them perfect but in our eyes its fine just the way it is and will make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. This is the only porcelain portrait we are aware of or could find any records of. The colors are just beautiful. The quality of the painting could not be any finer. The portrait measures 6-5/8 inches high by 5-1/4 inches wide. The framed size is 10 inches high by 8-3/4 inches wide.
