SOLD Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty hand painted porcelain round dragon box and cover decorated in overglaze enamels. The top of the cover skillfully enameled with a central medallion containing a dragon in archaic style. The cobalt blue border of the cover and the box are enameled overall with continuous long symbols, Buddhist Lion Dog -fu dog (Shishi) and lotus, the interior finely painted with a matching dragon medallion and long symbols. The base has six character red seal Qianlong mark, but in our opinion most likely not of the Period. CONDITION: In good condition except for one small chip on the rim. MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 13 cm (5 1/8 inches). Height: 5cm (2 inches). Bold and impressive, this four-sided rectangular vase was made for holding incense sticks at a Chinese altar. Rendered in champleve technique, where the enamel colors are filled in to recessed areas of the metal field, the four sides repeat the same design: archaic characters for felicity and longevity are in a cloud-dotted field of deep red enamel bordered by bands of alternating colors -- white, red, blue, green and yellow. Also in archaic script is a molded-in seal on the bottom, probably the maker or the name of the temple for which it was made. Excellent condition and patination. Chinese, Sixteenth-Seventeenth Centuries. Approximately 11-5/8 inches by 3-7/8 inches square.   « Less

A Yingqing Cream-glaze Stoneware Stoneware Model of a Bird, Song Dynasty, 12th Century. The stoneware bird stands on a rockwork base which rises in trunk-like fashion to the bird''s underside. ;The tail and wings are aloft as if in display, the head turned to the bird''s right. ;Details of the head, with pointed beak, small comb and waddle, and plumage are incised. The thick translucent buff toned creamglaze gathers in the incisions revealing these details. Similar items have also been discovered in 11th century tombs. Condition: Perfect.
