Turquoise interior with drainage hole at the base. Green underside with three stilt marks, painted ''14'' and impressed maker''s mark ''J HOLDCROFT''. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Green interior with drainage hole to base. Ochre glaze to the underside of jardiniere with three stilt marks and a painted mark. Three stilt marks to interior and underside of stand. Painted mark to underside. Good. Jardiniere: No restoration. Limescale around the base on exterior. Kiln effects: few shrinkage lines and staining to interior; couple of shrinkage lines from drainage hole on the underside. Stand: Some wear and staining to interior. The stand has a turquoise center with the same ferns on bark ground to the border. Turquoise reverse with maker''s marks and three stilt marks inside the foot. Generally good. Jardiniere: Wear to exterior. Kiln effects: some running of the brown glaze around rim; crazing and staining to interior and underside. Restored chip to rim. Stand: Some wear to center. Kiln effects: brown glaze run to the under rim; glaze pops to the front and reverse; stained crazing to front and reverse. 6.5ins high, 8ins diameter to stand   « Less

Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica jardiniere and stand molded as brown bamboo canes with a banana leaf wrapped around the outside of the jardiniere. Pink interior. Drainage hole to base of jardiniere, and three stilt marks on both sides of the stand. Mottled green, brown and cream glazes and three stilt marks to center of stand. Ochre reverse with a painted mark, impressed pattern registration diamond for 17th October 1876, and three stilt marks inside the foot. Generally good. Jardiniere: No restoration. A number of small flakes and some wear to exterior. Three hairlines to drainage hole on underside. Kiln effects: heavy crazing to interior; some glaze pops around drainage hole to interior; brown glaze run to exterior; glaze accumulation and a glaze miss to the base edge. Stand: Two small flakes to rim. Some wear to center. Kiln effects: two over glazed shrinkage lines to rim; some brown glaze run to under rim; glaze miss to the rim. The piece bears makers marks for the Wedgwood pottery. Marks include a date cipher for the year 1879. No book reference found. Jardiniere: Very good. No restoration. Some wear to interior. MINTON JARDINIERE OF EXCEPTIONAL CALIBER, SIGNED AND NUMBERED. This incredible large 10" high by 15" wide work of art is a rare and unique find, a treasure for the serious collector of Minton or Majolica. The jardiniere was made in 1871, and bears an impressed Minton mark, and the number 532. This Minton masterpiece is documented in numerous books on English porcelains, Majolica and Minton. Among the wonderful details are intertwined snake handles, and exceptional classical elements, exceptional color and minute detail so typical of Minton Majolica. Dimensions: Height 10" Width 15" Condition: Excellent for period. There is a horizontal hairline mid body about 6" in length.h is extremely common in Majolica of this age. This can be easily and invisibly restored by a competent restorer. The jardiniere does not appear to have any other damage, and if there are any prior repairs, have been exceptionally well done.   « Less
