You are viewing an exquisite bronze casting of 'Friends Forever' (or 'Eternal Friends') by DH Chiparus - also know as Eternal Friends. I hope the photos go some way in conveying the beauty to this piece, it's certainly better in the flesh. Chiparus was one of the most famous sculptors associated with the art deco movement and this is a later recasting of one of his best works. Please note, this is at our US office which is where it will ship from, which is good news for US customers as it's a heavy piece and not so far to travel. True to the art deco aesthetic, the piece has a wonderful symmetry and balance. The two borzoi dogs stand either side of the young lady clad in typical 20s attire. The piece has been cast from polychrome bronze so each section has different colours, silver for the dogs, red for her dress, brown for her face. The piece in turn stands on a black tiered marble base which is signed at the back, please see close up photo. This is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away and we will ship this to anywhere in the world. Chiparus: Born in Romania and lived in Paris studying under A Boucher and J. Boucher. He exhibited at the salon from 1914. His later works in the 1920s were influenced by the interest in Egypt after the excavation of the Pharoahs' tombes. Description: You are viewing a fantastic pair of bronze art deco style greyhounds sitting on a bronze base. The quality to the pair is amazing as I hope the photos adequately convey. It's a real unusual piece full of character and would look outstanding in the hallway as part of an ecelectic and open minded interiors scheme. The bronze has a lovely dark brown nutty patina to it and we were very excited coming across this at the Newark Antique fair. The stance of the dog really attracted us too with his cocked ears and attentive pose. You can see from the side pictures too the minimal style in which the artist has captured the angularity of the dog in an almost art deco style. Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms. Bronze is any of several alloys consisting mainly of copper and tin. Neither ancient nor modern bronzes consist only of these two metals. Zinc, lead, and silver were added to bronze alloys by Greek and Roman founders for use in tools, weapons, coins, and objects of art. Beautiful pair of antique Art Deco bronze French clowns signed Lipchytz. The woman is blowing kisses and thanking the audience for their applause as the male clown moves closer to put his hand up her dress making the audience laugh even more. Both clowns are costumed with clown clothes circa 1900. They are both beautifully detailed and in excellent condition. Each sculpture is inscribed S. Lipchytz and date circa 1920s. The female clown measures 8-3/4 inches high. Her base measures 3 inches wide, 2-1/4 inches deep, and 2 inches high. The male clown measures 8-1/4 inches high. His base measures 3-3/4 inches long, 2-1/4 inches wide, and 2 inches high. Combined weight 5 lbs. They are very animated and very well sculptured. This is a rare pair of bronzes lacking in most Art Deco collections. We were fortunate to find this beautiful pair in such great condition. Guaranteed to please as are all our items. Beautiful three piece Art Deco marble and metal clock set. The set has 2 impalas on either side of the clock. The impalas are leaping forward into the sides of the clock. The clock has beautiful colors and several types of marble making up its composition. The face of the clock is signed Robin Jargeau. The clock has its original key and is in working condition. It has 2 marble vases that match the clock and will look lovely on either side of the clock when placed on a mantle or desk top. This is a beautiful Art Deco clock set in excellent condition. The clock measures 18-1/2 inches wide, 8-1/2 inches high and 4-1/4 inches deep. The impalas measure 6-1/4 inches from their horn tip to back hoof. She measures 13 inches high to the top of her wrist. Not including the base, she measures 9-1/8 inches high. The polished onyx base measures 3-1/4 inches wide, 4 inches deep, and 4 inches high. Weight 7-1/2 lbs. Overall excellent condition showing some minor rubbing to the patina. She may have been holding a wand or long stick, something was in her hand a one time. Beautiful antique Art Deco nude bronze dancer inscribed Lipchytz at the base. This is a great composition showing the freedom, form, and motion associated with the Art Deco movement. She is nude with her head back, arms outstretched, and dancing on her toe with her other foot raised high in the air. Not exactly a modest pose but a very beautiful composition. Samuel Lipchytz is an important listed Art Deco sculptor who created some wonderful compositions during the peak of the Art Deco movement 1915-1930. This example measures 15-1/2 inches from the bottom of polished onyx base to the top of her wrist. Excluding the base she measures 11-1/4 inches. Weight 11 lbs. She has a medium chocolate brown patina with very little rubbing. Overall excellent condition. She has a very sweet and peaceful face and seems very happy dancing, unrestricted by clothing or shoes. Diana's face is beautifully sculptured and her body is anatomically perfect. She stands on her original polished marble base.
