Original Picasso Etchings - 1934 In the mid-1930s, some beautiful, high-quality books were published by a company called Limited Editions Club, which, according to Antiques Roadshow appraiser Ken Sanders, was “famous for re-issuing classics of literature and commissioning contemporary living artists to illustrate 1500-copy signed limited editions.” One of those books was the 1934 Pablo Picasso-illustrated edition of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata Picasso made these plated etchings for this book so these are considered book plates but nonetheless are plates by Picasso himself. This etching is from the 1934 edition, any edition after that year are reproductions, this is not a reproduction, this is an actual original plated etching. Ths in great condition. Sheet measures 10 6/8'' by 8 2/8''.   « Less

Miro “Liberte des Libertes 5 Lithographs - 1971 This is a lot of 5 and will be sold as a lot. Joan Miró i Ferrà (April 20 , 1893 — December 25, 1983) was a Spanish Catalan painter, sculptor and ceramist born in Barcelona. Earning international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as Surrealism, a sandbox for the subconscious mind, a re-creation of the childlike, and a manifestation of Catalan pride. In numerous interviews dating from the 1930s onward, Miró expressed contempt for conventional painting methods as a way of supporting bourgeois society, and famously declared an “assassination of painting” in favor of upsetting the visual elements of established painting. These lithographs are in good condition. It was printed by Le Soil Noir, Paris. From an edition of 125 impressions in 1971. Images measure 4.50 by 6 inches on wove paper.   « Less
