Bentwood Hanging Shelf Unit. Brown and brass. Wood and brass. These ornate shelves are in the Bentwood style. The unit has one long shelf on the bottom and four staggered half-shelf compartments above. Each compartment has a front gallery of either pegs or spools and pegs. There is also a row of pegs beneath the bottom shelf and each compartment. One side rail ends in a bend, the other in a circle. Three stilt marks inside the foot, along with impressed maker''s mark ''M. MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' and inscribed ''3''. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. Chips to hedgehog spikes. Small flake to end of branch. Kiln effects: some stray brown glaze to the hedgehog''s back; glaze accumulation to the foot. Repair to snake neck. Restored chips to leaf. Restoration of beetle antennae and wing tips. Restored flakes to the foot. Retouching to the moss. 12.25ins diameter   « Less
