An exceptional late Victorian era (1880''s) etagere. This ebonized etagere is made of cherry and is the height of quality and craftsmanship for the aesthetic era. It measures 4'' wide, 7'' high and 15'' deep. The width makes this very pleasing to the eye as larger ones (5'' and wider) tend to be heavy looking. Highlights of the piece are two bowed shelves, deeply carved panels, pierce carved fretwork and crest, bevelled mirror and glass doors, and finely turned finials. Retains original brass hardware except 2 escutcheons on doors replaced. Finish is 75% original with some minor overcoating for preservation and restoration work done on lower shelf. Unsigned but an upper level maker of the era , herter brothers or kimble & cabus are two names that come to mind when looking at the quality. Northeaster American made probably New York. Last Quarter, 19th Century American, three tier stand in a French Taste. This exceptional example of Louis XVI furniture has been handed down in one family, which I believe accounts for it's amazingly fine original condition. Rarely do we see any marquetry inlaid furniture in such fine original condition. Everything on this gorgeous piece of Victoriana is intact. From the three beautifully inlaid shelves, and fine ebonized turned legs to the fancy serpentine brass rail , cast brass turned finials, and shelf edging. The table is made from many exotic woods including walnut, rosewood and birds eye maple. We purchased it from the great grand daughter of the original owner whose mother made tags for all the family pieces when she inherited them. We have re-glued and waxed this all original stand to preserve it's fine original patina. 18" wide x 13 1/2" deep x 31 " high.   « Less

19th Century American Victorian Centennial china closet/ curio in the Classical Empire Revival style. This handsome cabinet has everything Excellent proportions, elegant detail and beautifully figured mahogany. Original mirrored back on the top section which has two long doors and two original wood shelves. Under the long doors there are two curved drawers with highly figured "book-matched" mahogany veneers. The bottom section is not mirrored and has one original wood shelf. There is glass on three sides, carved capitals on the columns and well carved claw feet. Original working locks with keys. Refinished sometime in the recent past.   « Less
