For sale is a beautiful coin silver soup or punch ladle by S. Kirk & Son of Baltimore, Maryland. Monogrammed. Approximately 13 1/2" long and the bowl measures 3 1/4" in diameter. It weighs 5.16 troy ounces. circa 1840-1860. Marks include S. KIRK & SON, 10.15. The 10.15 standard was used in Maryland c. 1840-60. The pattern looks very much like Maryland or Maryland Engraved. This is a beautiful ladle in very good condition. There are a couple of very minor dents in the bowl that can easily be removed. « Less

For sale are 12 beautiful and early tablespoons or serving spoons. Approximately 8 1/2" long and a heavy 40.63 troy ounces. Monogrammed in a shield on the back of the handle. See photos. Circa 1850. They are listed under Whiting division as Le Cordon, sterling c.1850. These were retailed by Ball Black & Co. Marked Ball Black & Co. They are not marked sterling but Ball Black made 925 and 950 sterling in their early years. I am listing them as coin silver because of the absence of a mark. Very good condition. « Less

Wonderful set of early coin silver flatware by A.E. Warner of Baltimore MD. I believe the pattern is Mayflower. c.1850s. The set includes 14 pieces, 7 teaspoons 7 1/8" long, 6 forks 7 1/2" long, 1 serving spoon 8 5/8" long. The total weght is 22.86 troy ounces. The six forks are monogrammed JAP. The seven teaspoons are monogrammed with what looks like ASK. The serving spoon has no monogram. It probably was removed. One of the teaspoons has some denting in the bowl that can be easily fixed. The teaspoons and forks are marked WARNER 11. The serving spoon is marked COIN, A.E. GRONEBERG. The pattern on the large spoon is only very slightly different. I added it to the set because it is almost exact. See photos. Very good condition. « Less

Beautiful coin silver large ladle by noted silversmith John C. Moore. Approximately 14" long. The bowl measures 3 3/8" deep x 4 1/4" wide. It weighs approximately 7.43 troy ounces. Monogrammed M.S.F. Marked ALLCOCK & ALLEN, J.C.M. and PATENT 1847. According to Dorothy Rainwater's book on American Silver Manufacturers, John Chandler Moore was associated with the firm of Eoff & Moore. He made silverware for Marquand & Co., and also for their successors, Ball Thompkins & Black. In 1847 John Moore designed and Patented a flatware pattern (Design Patent No. 124, May 29, 1847) that is similar to the Prince Albert design of Henry Hebbard. He was the father of Edward C. Moore who became Tiffany's chief silver designer and manager of their silver works. Very good condition. « Less

Gorgeous and early coin silver salver or footed tray by Gorham & Company of Providence RI. It was retailed by Crosby, Honnewell & Morse of Boston MA. Approximately 14" long and 10 1/4" wide. It is 1" high and weighs a hefty 28 troy ounces. 4 feet. Monogrammed in the center with a "W" as the prominent initial(see photo). Beautifully decorated with a floral, leafy, scroll design. It has a wonderfully beaded edge on the tray and each foot. Marks include the logo for Gorham & Co which is a lion, anchor and G. The lion is facing left. This mark was used from 1848-1865. Also on the back side is an applied coin spot which reads Crosby, Honnewel & Morse, COIN. BOSTON. They were the retailers. It is also inscribed in the center E.W. to M.N.W. Jan. 1, 1863. It is very unusual to find items dated exactly during the Civil War period as most resources went for paying for the war. Only a prominent person would be able to afford such luxuries during wartime. Stylized acorn finial with a chased floral decoration on the cover. (see photo) The handle and spout have a scrolled chased decoration. The body of the pot has eight panels of crossed hatched and floral chased decoration. One panel has a cartouche which is not monogrammed. Very good condition. One pin is missing in the handle. Gorgeous coin silver 4 footed salver by Lincoln & Foss. They were Boston silversmiths listed in 1829. 12 1/4" in diameter. Weighing approximately 23.87 troy ounces. Monogrammed EL and dated April 8, 1838 in the center with floral & foliate decoration surrounding the mono. That makes it 171 years old! 4 feet with acanthus leaf decoration. Marks include the Gorham logo with the lion facing left instead of right and the word COIN. This beautiful piece dates from 1848-1865. Gorham is from Providence, RI. Aesthetic style coin silver octagonal bowl by William Forbes for the famous firm of Ball, Tomkins and Black, New York. Circa 1845. This bowl was probably originally part of a tea and coffee service. It weighs a substantial 12.92 troy ounces and measures 3.5 inches ht. x 5.75 inches diameter. It is beautifully engraved with chinoiserie decoration, using stylized Chinese pagodas and scrolling foliage. One panel is engraved with the family monogram 'MEW.' Excellent condition. « Less

American coin silver water pitcher by Boston silversmith, Vincent LaForme, and retailed by Bigelow Brothers & Kennard. Circa 1855. This pitcher is decorated with a repousse grape vine motif. Vincent LaForme trained with his father and operated one of the last shops in mid-nineteenth century Boston to fashion silver by hand, rather than by than machine. This pitcher demonstrates the fine craftsmanship that was typical of LaForme's work. Monogrammed 'MAP'. Size: 9.5 inches ht. x 6.75 inches across spout x 5 inches diameter.
