One of the most unusual dining tables we have ever owned. I strongly believe that this rarity is a product of the Merklen Spiral Furniture Company of New York. That fine 19th Century maker specialized in American Aesthetic Movement furniture in a Moorish Taste. Most of the pieces they produced were small furniture such as pedestals and plant stands. I have never seen another dining table in this style. Solid mahogany throughout, the top is a rounded corner square, with a highly detailed apron. The base is turned legs ending in claw feet, connected by a curved and incised rail on which is mounted four spiral spindles. The center is supported by an additional two turned legs. This fine example of top quality Late Victorian American furniture is all original, down to the original case for storing it's four original leaves. We have lightly re-polished the table top since these pictures were taken to clean and even the original finish, and can take additional pictures if desired. Everything else is in very good, completely original condition. 44" x 44" square x 29 3/4" tall, closed, 4 original leaves, 12 1/2" wide, each, 94" long fully extended. « Less

American Aesthetic Movement, Victorian single door mirrored armoire. A cut above the usual, this nicely sized armoire is walnut but in a deep honey color, decorated with a charming "frieze" of applied, three dimensional carved flower panels around the sides, top and as a key hole cover and a center deeply carved round medallion above the door. The closet also has a single large mirrored door with a beveled glass mirror in excellent condition. The base has one large drawer with brass bin style pulls and cast brass key hole. The whole piece stands on large round turned feet. The interior has been modified sometime in the past and was probably all shelves and drawers. It now has selves and a drawer on one side and a hanging bar on the other. We will modify the interior to suit its new owner. Old refinishing and restorations, very good structural and cosmetic condition. Original back and working lock and key. 84 1/2" tall x 40 1/2" wide x 25" deepest (at the crown). « Less

Exceptionally high quality Jacobean Revival walnut desk. Every detail of this fine piece of furniture is top notch, from the use of furniture grade walnut on every inch including the interior of the drawers and back to the way every drawer fits to perfection. There are two large "secret compartments" big enough for legal papers and the top frieze drawer fits so well it could also be considered hidden. The desk is large and sturdy, with brass supports. The interior has four small drawers with original hardware and shaped compartments. There is one large drawer with original hardware, beneath the desk and the large frieze drawer on top. The secret compartments are accessed from the back. Very good condition with some old restorations to the two top corners and missing a lock for the desk flap which does not affect it's use. Beautiful soft warm original finish in excellent condition. 51 1/2" tall x 39†wide x 20 1/2†deep. « Less

Unique mechanical dessert table. This incredibly well designed adjustable sideboard, goes from a simple console table to a solid, three tiered serving table with virtually no time or effort, via a clever counter-balance design. All fine, solid, honey colored oak, with the exception of the decorative top surface which is done in a four panel, light and dark chevron veneer. When the table is closed you just need to lift up on the top to open and when it is in the three tier position you press the "buttons" on the bottom of the top column to lower. This handsome table is completely free standing and features grooved columns, a well turned stretcher and carved feet. We have never seen anything like this and think it would be wonderful for entertaining or in a restaurant for the display of pastry or desserts. Very good condition with old refinishing and a repair to the top surface. 45 1/4" tall in three tier position. 44" wide x 23" deep x 32 1/4"tall when in the single position. « Less
