Rare & Important 19th C American Portrait Miniature Of An Angelic Blond Young Girl Sitting On A Crimson Tuffed Cushion Holding A Sprig Of Flowers In One Hand And A Lattice Basket Of Flowers In The Other, With Blue Silk Slippers On A Square Marble Floor And A Vivid Blue Sky With A Delightful Bucolic Landscape In The Foreground By The Charming Deaf Mute Artist John Carlin (1813-1891) Who Was Born In Philadelphia Where He Graduated From The Pennsylvania Institute For The Deaf. He Later Married His Wife Who Was Also A Deaf Mute And They Proceeded To Have Five Hearing Children. John Carlin Studied With John Neagle In Philadelphia Before Going To Paris To Study With The Academic Master Paul Delaroche. Upon His Return To The United States He Primarily Settled Between Philadelphia And New York City Becoming Americas Prominent Society Miniaturist.
