Antique very rare double miniature portrait brooch / pin. Enamel set in 18k gold. French, made circa 1820-30. Length approx 30mm ( a little over an inch). Delicate, typically Georgian / very early Victorian gold mount. The top depicts a beautiful, blondhaired young mother with a red ribbon in her hair, surrounded by her 3 babies. She nurses one, while another clings to her shoulder and the 3rd looks lovingly on. The woman with demurely downcast eyes, the details of which can only be seen with magnification - very lovely. This warmly maternal family scene is exceptional in itself, but the huge surprise comes when you turn over the brooch and discover the magnificent nude on the back. Again with the beautiful eyes, slightly darker hair in ringlets and a robe that fully reveals her upper body. A necklace or scarf falling between her breasts only serves to emphasize her nudity. The young woman is looking at herself in a mirror, held up in one hand. Even the fingers are beautifully depicted. Each side of the jewel is exquisite. The quality of the painting is fabulous - very sensitive and accomplished fine artistry. Colours delicate and refined, have survived perfectly as enamel does not fade over the years. The brooch might have started out as a pendant and been made into a brooch at a later date (a very long time ago), but there is no sign of any kind of alteration. The simple c-clasp has French hallmarks. Very good condition with no damage/loss/restoration to be found. True museum quality. Antique snake & memorial heart necklace. 15carat gold set with aquamarine and other gems (Chrysolite/topaz and garnet). Made in England, circa 1875. Total length 15 1/2 - 15 More »
Antique snake & memorial heart necklace. 15carat gold set with aquamarine and other gems (Chrysolite/topaz and garnet). Made in England, circa 1875. Total length 15 1/2 - 15 3/4 inches (from tip of tail to apex of heart). Weighs approx 19 grams. Body of the snake forms most of the necklace. Overlapping links, symbolic of scales, in graded size, narrowing to the tail. Snake head surrounded by a looping halo with delicately engraved embellishment. The loop, not only adds a subtle and delicate 3rd dimentional feel, but the infinity of the circle echoes the symbolism of the snake to the Victorians. The open-mouthed snake suspends a matching heart. Both head and heart are richly set with gems - the largest being aquamarine (pale) and others either chrysolite or topaz. Eyes are garnets. Gold wirework and chasing add to the richness of the decoration. The back of the heart is covered with a crystal, enclosing a locket of hair of a beloved person. The clasp is secure, although the opening is a little rough at the edges (not visible when worn). Quality of work is very good with craftsmen going all the way in the richness of the embellishments. The necklace looks fabulous sitting just below the nape of the neck. Neutral coloured stones match any outfit. No hallmarks, but tests for 15carat gold. Very good condition. Antique / vintage Art Deco brooch made of platinum, jade, diamonds and sapphires. Made by Dreicer & Co., that was sold to Cartier in 1924. Measurements: 1 9/16 (a little over 1 1/2 inches or 41mm ) inches long; jade is approx 5/8 inches (16mm)long; Weighs 8.6grams. Shaped rectangle with circles on either side. Beautifully set diamonds in bands in a classic Art Deco geometric form, with softened corners giving that extra flair. The center is a rounded rectangle of jade - lovely green colour, set with small diamonds and a central blue sapphire. The jade is surrounded by small, round blue sapphires set in filigree silver collettes, the circles echoing the larger round diamond circles on either side of the rectangle. The theme is continued outside the frame of the diamonds, with a pair of round sapphires on either side of the diamond circles. Both from the point of view of artistic design and technical workmanship, the brooch is an outstanding example of Art Deco jewellery, that is extremely beautiful. The pin at the back is signed DREICER & CO. Condition is very good. No damage/restoration of any sort. Dreicer & Co., New York and Chicago 1904-1923 was considered the equal of any French jewellery. It was bought by Cartier in 1924. Status: For Sale Reference#: 4184 Condition: good Year: 1920 Title: DREICER & CO PLATINUM JADE DIAMOND SAPPHIRE BROOCH DECO « Less

Antique, Georgian era cut steel earrings. Made circa 1780-90. Measure 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 inches long and 7/8 inches accross widest point. Weigh 8.5 grams. Cut steel was introduced as a more economical alternative to diamond jewellery that gave the same glittering effect in evening lamplight. Botanical theme: small flowers attached to the original loops with foliage stretching out beneath them. Suspended beneath another cut steel bauble is a dangling large flower, surrounded by a round wreath of foliage. The lower ''pinwheels'' swing as the wearer moves. Each part beautifully faceted - catches the light, glimmers and sparkles. The steel rivet attached to brass back plates. Silver wire loops - very easy to insert in the ear and very comforatble to wear. All parts are original and in very good condition with expected surface dots commensurate with the age and one tiny ''speck'' of rust on one earring (that can be removed).
