Circa 1930s, these sconces have been restored (cleaned up) and re-lacquered, but touches of the polychrome paint are still there. Lincoln called these sconces “The Triangle Line”. In their catalog, Lincoln says: “The triangle line gets its name from the suggestion of angles in the design, which add the modernistic effect to the style.” The shades are deeply embossed like carving and the design is excellent. Electrical: These sconces have been totally rewired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs have been installed, just like the originals. A rotary on/off switch has been renewed as well. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. The antique shades are very nice, and have an amber background and darker designs. Some wear and tear on the shade colors (as expected with old shades), but nothing terribly significant. These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop, with new sockets and all new original rayon twisty wire. Fantastic Set of FOUR Art Deco Streamline Sconces by Mid-West Mnf. It's always nice to find a matching pair of antique Art Deco sconces...even better to find a scarce set of FOUR! We are absolutely delighted to have these for sale! Made by Mid-West Manufacturing of Kansas City, Kansas in 1935, this company had a remarkable attitude towards the Great Depression. Their attitude was to make only the best, since there are always folks with money out there, even in the worst of times. They named this design "The Beverly Series." The whole series was cast from aluminum, a metal that gained popularity as a material of choice for manufacturing during the 1930's. After casting and polishing, the aluminum was then contrasted and elaborated with gold touches. These are now complete with original shades that have an amber tinting. Electrical: While these sconces have been rewired in our UL shop to accept 100 watt incandescent bulbs, we have decided to add a neat LED SMD bulb as shown. This bulb runs at only 10 watts, but produces the same light as a 100 watt incandescent bulb! Since these sconces are thin, the best bulb solution is either the corn cob style LED bulb (shown)...or a T10 tubular incandescent bulb, which can be found in most large chain stores. Your choice...but...to help you make that choice...we are giving you four LED bulbs (one for each sconce) for you to decide. All included in the price. Great for use as a night light, or long term usage....and yes, we will have these LED bulbs for replacements if and when you ever need them again. These sconces were item 6001 from the "Carleton Series". Virden bragged in its description: “Underwriters Approved”. Real crafts people here. The sconces are made from solid brass, and have been rewired to accept 100 watt bulbs. Sconces have been rewired in our UL shop. The sconces mount with a special crossbar that picks up mounting screws at the very top and bottom of the backplate. We assume that that this was done to prevent holes from being drilled in the center of the motif.
