A visual feast of kiku/chrysanthemums. Gently and gracefully scalloped. On the outside, very finely rendered bamboo bunches, on two opposing sides,
reminiscent of Ike Taiga's painting strokes, against a very unique midnight blue background.
On the inside, an explosion of chrysanthemums in every shape, form and color plus representative flora of Japan. The composition and coloring equivalent to an Impressionist master.
Artist signed, by the elusive Juzan.

Absolutely beautiful Satsuma Bucket.
Sennin Kinko is depicted riding a giant koi fish/carp, a symbol of luck, prosperity and good fortune. Kinko, a Daoist sage, is known as Sennin in Japan.
According to the legend Kinko was a painter whose specialty was painting fish, which he would never kill or eat. Rewarding his virtuous life, the Dragon King sent a giant koi to carry Kinko in his Sea World Palace. On his way back, Kinko meets Kannon who hands him a scroll illustrating the Buddhist principle of protecting the lives of all
living creatures.
The scene is of Kinko's return and the encountering with Kannon, depicted here as a male God, handing him the Buddhist scroll.
On the other side, a Japanese family of four, two children, having a tea/picnic outdoors. Both children, with scrolls at hand, probably with the same principles as Kinko's, seem busy discussing the Buddhist Principles.
The Bucket is completed with two lovely, smaller depictions of scenic, rural Japan.
The handle is like a thick bamboo cane.
Extensive moriage throughout with traditional Japanese decorative motifs and colours.
Meiji Period, artist signed on the scrolls, albeit signature illegible.
Dimensions: H 11.81in./30cm. Diameter 8.26in./21cm.

Large Chinese famille rose pattern cabinet plate, measuring 26 cm diameter. Bird and butterfly designs with pink roses and scenes of courtyard life. Gold rim, highlights and central circular band. The rear has a Chinese red underglaze seal mark for Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi or "Great Qing Qianlong Period Make". This is for the period 1736-1795. However, given the propensity to copy marks, this plate is probably early 20th century. I leave it up to you to decide. It has a matte appearance and feel, and raised feel to the enamels. A bit of dirt yellowing to the rear - would probably clean off. Nice plate all round, no damage at all. Rings like a bell. « Less

A white-glazed pillow was produced from the Cizhou kiln of Northern Song Dynasty. By affluent carving strokes, the motif of a boy playing in the garden was vividly rendered. Apparently found from excavation accompanied with enduring old characteristics, the porcelain was incursioned somehow to the surface when one crack line was yielded. It did not penetrate the ware and was in a stable and firm condition.Width:15cm, Depth:11.8cm, Height: 7.3cm.

A porcelain tripod censer was preserved in a decent look. By interesting yellow-eel glaze, the ware was reflected with retrospective sheen from centuries old of age. Fine crackles were somehow revealed subtly under the glaze when the characteristic iridescence condition was yielded. Both of them were strong evidences for burial pieces. Provenance: Zangzou Kiln, Fujiang Province. « Less
