A hard to find set of four circa 1920-30 set of sconces, with great custard glass shades. The custard shades are in very good condition and seem to match the rounded decorative elements of the backplate quite well. The metal is finished in an antique hi/lo pewter look, and has some interesting decorative elements reflecting an Edwardian appeal. Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs have been installed in each. The on/off rotary switch is mounted onto the backplate, which renewed an identical one by Leviton. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. A very nice Set of FOUR American made sconces. Measurements: 9 1/2” tall. The shade has a maximum diameter of 5 1/2”, while the backplate measures 9 1/2” by 4 3/4” wide (at the widest point). These lights project into a room from the wall at 7”. An interesting and pleasing pair of circa 1920-30 sconces, with great Deco chevron motif shades. The shades are in very good condition and match the the decorative elements of the backplate quite well. The metal is finished in an antique hi/lo pewter look, and has some interesting decorative elements. The shades have a mix of clear and frosted design, which accents the chevron panels. Salvaged out of a Connecticut home, each sconce features a hammered backplate with a central oval dome flanked by scooped channels. A thick lower shelf rests on two brackets, extending out to support two crimped bobeches. Stunning pair of antique one-arm Spanish Revival sconces with a hammered finish, dating from the early 1900s. These cast bronze wall lamps feature an octagonal backplate with a twisted rope border and diamond quatrefoils, topped by a crown finial. Each backplate tapers down with a chandelier arm extending up and out to support a wide crenellated bobeche. Made by Globe Mnf in the 1930s, these wall sconces are in very nice condition. The cast iron frames are au naturel. The slip-in shades are finished in a nice amber, with traces of darker amber in the recessed lines. Very attractive in contrast with the iron backplates. Measuring 8 1/2" tall, with a width of 6 1/2", they project into a room 6 1/2” from the wall. These sconces have been completely rewired with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches, made by Leviton in the 20’s...and still made up to ONE year ago. So these switches, by Leviton, are becoming even more antique as we note this. Original antique sconces, with original antique art glass shades. These sconces have a lovely Edwardian brass look, with a great design that is so typical of the Edwardian style. The original antique shades are also so very nice. They are an ivory color, with clear applied art glass touches to each side. The height of the shades, as well as the design of the art glass, complements the shapes found in the metal backplate. A nice combination indeed. The backplates were stamped out of solid brass, and have a hi/lo finish. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and all new wire. Measurements: overall sconce height is 11”. The maximum width (shade) is 4 1/2”. Lovely pair of wall sconces. Original antique backplates and original antique shades. These sconces have a close-to-Streamline appearance, with a slightly earlier Deco touch to the bottom of the backplates. The pewter color backplates have nice brass accents, but the more restrained backplate design is so typical of the late Deco design style, i.e. more like Streamline Art Deco. The shades are a nice reeded custard glass, with small beads running along with the reeding. They match the straight line ambiance of the fixtures quite well. They are in excellent condition. The metal of the backplates is cast iron, with a lovely pewter finish. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and all new wire in our UL listed workshop. Please note that the switches for these lights are directly below the shades. They are part of the socket, and make an integral part of the light. They are a rotary style deco switch used from about 1910 onward. Measurements: The overall sconce height is 8 1/2”. Lovely pair of wall sconces. Original antique backplates and old shades. These sconces have a shield style backplate topped with a design reminiscent of a mock crown. The design is re-echoed in the fitter and the top of the shade for a nice cohesive appearance. A pewter look with brass accented backplates. The hand blown shades are nice, with just the slightest touch of cut pattern that is hard to see the pictures. They are in excellent condition. The metal of the backplates is cast iron with a lovely pewter finish. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except to add the light bulbs of your choice. These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and all new wire in our UL listed workshop. Note that we used the old fashioned rylon twisted wire, which is visible since it runs along the curved arms. It becomes part of the decorative aspects of the sconces. Since the shade is so tall, we think it is effective to use those long tubular bulbs that fit into desk lamps. They are called T10 bulbs, and are readily available in a 60 watt or less size. Probably 1940 or so...this over the sink light has lot of design and style appeal. Judging by the original socket and wiring, which we replaced in our UL shop, it does have age to it. This fixture takes two normal medium based light bulbs in a porcelain double socket. The plug at the bottom has been stubbed off, and is not live. We consider it dangerous, since we believe that the only plugs that should be allowed in a bathroom should be GFI protected. This fixture mounts on a normal crossbar, with two decorative knobs that can be seen in one of the pictures. The shades are opal white, with lots of nice embossed decor. Very stylish. Measurements: 14” wide by 6” high. The backplate has a footprint of 9 3/4” x 5 1/4”.
