Set of FOUR sconces with lovely poly-chrome original coloring. Circa 1920's, the frames were cast and artists hand painted the remarkable variation of old gold and white poly-chrome colors. Really quite attractive and striking. The shades are in great condition with only a couple of minor chips where they go into the fitter...not seen after installation. The shade has two distinct areas...there is the yellowish crackled ground and then the clear band on floral decor. Then the same yellowish ground is repeated at the very top rim. A very nice appealing combination. Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal sockets, for everyday medium base bulbs, were installed in each sconce. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. There is no switch on each sconce, but they could be added for a small additional cost. Measurements: 9 7/8” tall by 5 5/8” wide and projects into the room from the wall 6 3/4”. The backplate measures 4” at the widest point x 9 7/8” tall. A real value is to find a matching set of 4 sconces in this remarkable condition. Pair of unique and attractive sconces...circa 1920's. The frames are cast and come with a nice and mellow pewter finish. The opal shades are in great condition with only a couple of minor nicks where they go into the fitter...not seen after installation. The shades are tall so there will be no part of the light bulb that protrudes out of the top as many antique sconces do. A lovely baby-blue floral decor graces the top band. Note how the ruffled shade tops match the fitter that holds them so very well and even blends with the shaped metal backplate. It just does go all together so very well. Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal sockets for everyday medium base bulbs were installed in each sconce. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the 20’s...and were still made up to ONE year ago. So these switches, by Leviton are becoming even more antique as we note this. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. Pair of unusual and striking quality sconces... circa 1910. Nickel plating and age have given these pleasant sconces a generous mellow look of nickel and brass subtle hues. Some ways you look at them and you can see the brass coming through...other ways...the nickel is predominant. Age, use, and years of polishing all have added their ambient touches. The shades are our fine hand cut models that are sold usually with upscale lighting due to their labor intensive craftsmanship and price. They are simply lovely and speak volumes about quality. Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. We went a step further with the sockets. We used lathe turned, screwed together, high end sockets since the shade is directly supported by them. The sockets take every day normal bulbs, and 100 watts bulbs are quite accepted. We did use some adapters as well to change from a french thread to an American thread. These sconces mount with a normal crossbar (supplied) using two decorated nickel ball fasteners. The crossbar mounts to a normal electrical box. All mounting hardware will be supplied as shown. Measurements: 18 1/2” tall from the top of the top tube to the bottom of the backplate. Widest part is the canopy which measures at 5” in diameter. Projects into the room 8” after mounted onto the wall. Neo-Rococo French candelabrum sconce in the finest French casting tradition. Very impressive French, 5-light, neo-rococo large sconce Circa 1910-20+. This impressive antique wall sconce is 38” tall. It is 17” wide maximum and will project into the room 10”. Only one...but what a statement it would make in that one special place. We completely re-wired this sconce and removed the French sockets to convert them to our American socket bulbs and current. This fixture comes complete with our neat little candle style 35C-E12 LED bulbs. Our bulbs draw only 2 watts, but produces almost as much light as a 25 watt incandescent bulb. AND....it lasts 30,000 hours. We carry replacements too. (The verbiage “E-12” (in the light bulb stock number) is just a professional way that lighting folks have of saying “a candelabra socket”...so...you could use ANY candelabrum bulb in this sconce if you do not care for the new SMD LED type bulbs that we have.) Original antique sconces with original opal and clear glass antique shades. These original antique shades are also so very nice. They are an ivory color with a clear band of Art Deco design at the top which is very striking. A nice combination indeed. The metal of the backplates, is cast metal with a lovely pewter finish. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. We would recommend our LED candleabrum bulbs, 35C-E26 if you wish ambient light rather than full room power. The ambiance of these bulbs is warm and they draw so little electricity (1.6 watts) that we have known folks that leave them on 24/7. The bulbs do have an expected life of 25,000 - 30,000 hours. However...if a stronger light is desired...we suggest a tubular S-10 bulb which is the same kind of tubular bulb often used in desk lamps. It gives a balanced light for this longer shade. These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. Measurements: The overall sconce height is 11”. The maximum width (shade) is 3 7/8”. It will project into the room, from the wall 5 3/4”. The backplate, by itself, measures 9 3/4” tall by 3 3/8”. Beautiful pair of antique Neoclassical double arm sconces, circa 1910, in their original silver plate over pewter. These wall lamps feature an elegant backplate crowned with urns and featuring volute and foliate details. Two S-shaped sconce arms extend out from near the base of the fixture, each supporting a silver plated bobeche with deep undulations and an inverted scalloped edge. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switch for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace it with a new one if desired. The sconces measure 8-1/2" wide, 10-3/4" tall, and project 5" from the wall.   « Less

Original antique sconces with an original poly-chrome coloring...although...like a good oriental carpet, it is subdued and mellow and even has some wear....it is in....pretty good condition for all this time though...it probably could be brightened up. However, we like antiques to look like antiques so will leave it to the next owner to make that final finish decision. The shades are really quite unique. Heavy cast glass with heavy embossed designs, they are a deep amber color which is very earthy when not alight. With a strong bulb, they give an ambiance that is quite antique. We took our picture with a 15 watt bulb so the camera would focus on the light and shade detail...not get washed out by too strong a bulb. These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the 20’s...and were still made up to ONE year ago. So these switches, by Leviton are becoming even more rare as we note this. Lovely pair of circa 1920 wall sconces. Original antique backplates and original antique shades. These sconces have a lovely Edwardian pewter look and a great design that is so typical of the Edwardian style. The original antique shades are very nice. A frosted center set off by two sections of amber. Being antiques, there is a place “or two” where there are very MINOR flakes to the shades where they fit into the holder (not seen). It is normal 90 year wear-tear and so very minor, but we have to mention it. The metal of the backplates is cast metal with a lovely pewter finish. Cast backplates with a pewter finish in a hammered affect design. The shades are really quite interesting. Heavy cast glass with heavy embossed designs, they are a vibrant amber color. I have heard these shades being referred to as "Bully Deco," because of the heavy block and angular designs. These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. The sconces do not have switches but are hard wired to an electrical box for use with a wall switch.
