For sale is a wonderful Matte Green Ferner made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is known as " Ming Tree" and it is done in their most Popular Blue Glaze. Each Candlestick measures approximately 2 1/4" tall and is 4 1/8" wide. The Candlesticks has a wonderful Sky Blue background Glaze accented with Brown Branches and White Puffs of Foliage. Roseville called this Blue Glaze (Celestial Blue). The Candlesticks display a very realistic Twisted Bonsai Tree with Brown Branches that protrude from each side of the Candle Hole opening and the Foliage Rising up from a Branch. The Glaze is a high Gloss and it gives these sticks a Reflective appearance. The Candlesticks are considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, dents or dings. There is the usually crazing that is common to this high gloss glaze. The Candlesticks are signed on the bottom with Embossed "Roseville U.S.A. 551" in raised relief. There is also a letter X written in blue Grease pencil along with the number 2 and the letter C with 2 Dashes. More than likely these are the finishers marks. These Candlesticks are not a common find in this Patter. In fact the Pattern itself is Hard to Find. I'm sure the lucky Buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. These candlesticks were made, Circa 1949 and are considered late in the Roseville Production Years.   « Less

For sale is a splendid Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made my Hampshire Pottery of Keene, New Hampshire. The Piece is a "Chamber Stick" or "Candlestick". The Glaze is done in Hampshire's most Popular Matte Cucumber Greene Glaze. The Ewer is 2 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter. This Chamber Stick displays a very nice Mottled Cucumber Green Glaze. The Glaze has wonderful charcoaling throughout!! The Deep Matte Cucumber Green Glaze Rivals any Matte Green Glaze produced by Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. The Candlestick is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a area on the inside of the candle holder that is a little light in the green glaze. On the opposite side is a glaze pin pop inside the candle hole. The Candlestick or Chamber Stick is signed on the bottom side with the Impressed "Hampshire Pottery" Script Lettering plus the Mold or Shape Number "145" in raised relief. It also has the incised M inside a Circle mark. This dates this piece to Circa 1904-1914. These were the years that Cadmon Robertson worked and managed Hampshire Pottery. He used this mark as a tribute to his wife Emoretta, who was the daughter of the Founder, James Scollay Taft in 1871. Hampshire started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown. I would consider this an excellent example of this Matt Green Glaze in both form and Glaze. This will make a wonderful addition to any matte Pottery collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase.   « Less

For Sale is a lovely pair of candlesticks made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Gardenia" and it is done in their ever Popular Gray Background Glaze. Each Candlestick measure approximately 1 3/4" tall and they have a diameter of 3 1/2". The pattern is a very pleasing one of Banded White Gardenia Flowers surrounded by detailed veined leaves on each side of the Flower. The bottom glaze is just wonderful as it Bleeds from a Soft Lilac Purple at the bottom to a Medium Gray and then onto a lighter Gray at the top or opening of the Candlesticks. The Candlesticks are considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks. nicks, chips or dings. There is the usual crazing that is common with this glaze. I have owned over 50 pieces of Gardenia in my Lifetime and I am pretty sure that every single one of them had crazing. I believe this to be very common and consistent with their Glaze Combinations for this line. The candlesticks are signed on the bottom "Roseville U.S.A." along with the Shape number 651" in raised relief. There is also the letters and numbers "4 T" on one candlestick and a "V" or a small letter "h" or an "L" (depends how you look at it) written in a blue grease pencil. I believe these to be the Finishers and Artists initials. This Candlesticks are very lovely and will enhance any Roseville Gardenia Pottery Collection. These Candlesticks were made, Circa 1950.   « Less
