DESCRIPTION: This is fabulous oak and mahogany cross banded eight-day brass faced, longcase clock, which is of superb proportions. It has an eight-day movement on a brass square dial. If we start with the hood this has a superb Architectural pediment with a glass panel below which is beautifully painted with scrolls. Lovely delicate full turned columns flank the hood door with full columns to the rear also. The hood door is nicely cross banded in mahogany. If we then move down to the trunk this has beautifully shaped full-length door, which has been nicely cross banded in mahogany. The trunk door is then flanked by quarter turned columns. The door is complete with fully working lock and key. The base has an applied panel with again has some nice mahogany cross banding and is raised on ogee bracket feet. The eight-day movement with makers name of Edwd Harrison, Warrington has a square brass face. It also has a subsidiary second dial and a date aperture. The four corners are adorned with beautiful spandrals whilst the centre incorporates beautiful engraved flowers. The fingers are also wonderful fretted fingers. The face is beautifully clean which made it extremely difficult to photograph. The movement is rack striking on a bell. The clock is in perfect working order having been recently professionally cleaned and serviced. It comes complete with its weights, pendulum and winding key. DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: - 83 inches high - 21 inches across the hood - 15 inches across the trunk - 21 inches across the base As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely proportions. MAKERS DETAILS: There is one Edwd Harrison of Warrington listed in ‘Clockmakers of Cheshire by Keith Apple: - 'HARRISON Edward WARRINGTON Watchmaker Watchmaker working in 1766.' CONDITION: The clock is in wonderful condition. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home. If we start with the hood this has a lovely flat top finished with moulded cornice, the top in then finished with three superb original finals. Lovely delicate reeded columns flank the hood door which finish in brass capitals. There are nice simple back splats. The hood door is nicely cross banded in mahogany. If we then move down to the trunk this has beautifully shaped full-length door, which has been nicely cross banded in mahogany. The trunk door is then flanked by quarter reeded columns. Below the columns is some lovely fine carved detailing. The door also has its original brass escutcheon. As with the trunk door the base incorporates some nice mahogany cross banding and has a lovely mahogany cross banded applied panel. The base is raised on ogee bracket feet. The eight-day movement with makers name of 'Peter Evers, Chester', striking the hour has a square brass face. It also has a subsidiary second dial and date aperture. The four corners are adorned with beautiful spandrels whilst the centre incorporates beautiful engraved swags. There is one 'Peter Evers , Chester' listed in ‘Clockmakers of Cheshire by Keith Appleby': 'EVERS Peter CHESTER Clock and Watchmaker. Gloverstones 1792. Castle Street 1814 – 22’. DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: - 82.5 inches high to top of clock / 87.5 inches high to top of finial - 21.75 inches across the widest part of the hood - 15.75 inches across the trunk - 20.25 inches across the widest part of the base. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home. If we start with the hood, this has a flat top which incorporates a lovely deep moulding. Full reeded columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door and it has nicely chamfered back splats. The door has a pretty little brass knob and is beautifully cross banded in mahogany. If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely shaped full length door which is again beautifully cross banded in mahogany. It also has a pretty shaped brass escutcheon. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working. The door is then flanked by quarter reeded columns which have a wonderful carved detailing below the columns. The base has an applied panel which is cross banded in mahogany, which sets the base off superbly. The base is raised on ogee bracket feet. The dial with makers name of 'Jno Loader, Basingstoke', has the four corners adorned with the most exquisite baskets of flowers which have a lovely decorative surround which has been combined with gold leaf to give a very striking effect. The dial is set out with Arabic Numerals. There is a subsidiary second dial and a date aperture which is edged in gold leaf. The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers. The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. As can be seen from the photographs the movement is immaculately clean. There is one 'Jno loader, Basingstoke' listed in 'Watch & Clockmakers of the World Volume by Brian Loomes': - 'LOADER, John. Basingstoke c1760 Clockmaker'. The date of 1760 is likely to be when Loader started his career as this clock dates to around 1800. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home. If we start with the hood, this has swan necks with superb brass pateras, with a wonderful shaped fretwork section between. Pretty reeded columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door. To the rear are lovely reeded back splats. The door is mahogany veneered and is beautifully inlaid. Above the hood door is inlaid with three ovals of inlay. If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely fully length door cross banded in mahogany. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working. Above the door is beautifully inlaid with a conch shell which is flanked by two oval of inlay. The door is then flanked by square reeded columns which have been nicely inlaid with stringing. Also below the columns are lovely inlays of ebony stringing. Finally the base has canted corners which have been beautifully reeded. The base has a shaped applied panel which is cross banded in mahogany and is raised on lovely ogee bracket feet. The dial with makers name of 'H. Richardson, Tarporley', has the four corners adorned with wonderful sprays of flowers which has been created in colours with a decorative edge of gold leaf. There are two further sprays of flowers to the centre of the dial. The dial is set out with Arabic Numerals. There is subsidiary second dial and date aperture.The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers. The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. As can be seen from the photographs the movement is immaculately clean. There are one 'H.
