An antique carved Venetian armorial in the glassy enamel paint found on blackamoors .The cartouche shaped fringed ruby drapery being pulled apart by two silver gilt putti revealing the armorial . The drape outside in silver gilt and pulled together in a cornona in the form of a Doge's ceremonial hat .
All carved wood with typical thin plaster coating to provide ground for the gilt and glassy enamel . Minor nicks , cracks and small losses typical of items of age and wear and use .
By repute : The Gritti Palace , Venice during restorations after the 1960 flooding and thence to a Palm Beach Palazzo .

This is a wonderful antique boxed newel post in walnut, dating from the 1890’s. The newel begins with a cap with a flat top. Below, the newel post is accented with roundels, followed by a bead-and-reel pattern on the corners of the newel. The sides are ornamented with simple fluting. This box newel post is in very good antique condition, with one crack on the back of the post (pictured) and some very minor chips and dings. The newel is 56 ¼†tall and 8 ¾†wide.

An unusually large antique boxed newel post in oak, dating from the late 1800’s. The newel post begins with an unusual cap shaped like a spinning top; below, the newel post is ornamented on three sides with panels of beautifully carved flowers and leaves. The sides of the newel are ornamented with a vertical groove pattern and chamfered edges. This box newel post is in very good antique condition, with one crack on the base of the post (pictured). The newel is 74†tall and 10 ¾†wide.
