For sale is a lovely vase made by a Bohemian Glass Company. The Item is known as a "Stag and Castle" or "Deer and Castle" Vase. The Glass is a Flashed Red over Clear. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 5 1/2" tall and is 4 5/8" in diameter.
The vase depicts separate scenes going around the Vase. The First is a Deer or Stag w Antlers, the second is that of a Castle and the 3rd is a Doe Running the opposite direction of the Stag and the last is a Gazebo Park Scene. These are all wheel cut and acid etched with great detail by a master wheel cutter. They are cut from Red to clear and all four cut scenes are nestled in a Forest of Wheel Cut lush foliage. The vase sits on a Round foot with horizontal cut windows all along the bottom.
The is an exquisite Bohemian Vase that was made by a True Master. The vase has good weight not like the lighter pieces that were produced at a later period that look similar to this pattern. I thought possibly it could be "Moser" but I am not sure. The top rim is polished smooth and the Vase was put together in 2 Parts. The foot was applied to the Vessel. The Foot was blown from the Bottom and the vase was blown from the top then these 2 pieces were fused together.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are some inclusions like pieces of sand that didn't melt when firing inside the vase. This really adds some charm to the piece and is typical of early art glass. The piece is unsigned and it has a flat clear bottom. There are some scratches and this is consistent with its age. The inside is clear and shows no signs of calcium deposits.
These quality Bohemian Vases are becoming hard to find. They are Truly Lovely and the Collectors seem to hold onto these beauties. This Vase was made Circa 1890-1920. « Less

For sale I have an Outstanding Art Glass Basket made by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn of Eleonorenhain Bohmen (Bohemia) which is now the modern day "Czech Republic". I call this Pattern "Swirling Waves" and It is very similar to a Loetz Decoration I have seen in the past. The Basket is a good size as it stands 12" tall and is 8 1/4" wide and 5 1/2" deep at the widest part of the Basket.
The Basket display a very Beautiful Pattern of Iridescence Moss Green Waves and Swirls running throughout the piece. The iridescence is on the Inside and Outside of the Basket. The Decoration also reminds me of the King Tut Decoration made my Tiffany, Durand and other early American Manufacturers. The Decoration is applied to the Basket as you can feel the Ridges of the Decoration above the surface of the base glass. The Decoration is applied to a clear glass base. The Basket has a very nice Applied Clear handle that is Accented with Small Round Rosettes that hold the handle to the Basket. These Rosettes are almost Identical to a Loetz Basket that I had many years earlier but I am told by the folks writing the updated Kralik, Rindskopf and Loetz Site that this is a Kralik Basket
The Basket is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no Cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is not signed but is definitely of European Origin. The Basket does display a counter sunk polished Pontil. This is the finishing sign of a Quality Piece of Art Glass.
Purchase with confidence as these decorated Baskets are quite Rare. I would consider this piece to have been made circa 1910-1925.

For sale I have a Lovely Vase made by The Dugan Glass Company of Indiana, PA. The Vase is in a very desirable Shape. This Shape was known as a "Hyacinth" Vase. The Vase is a Good Size as it stands 6 1/8" tall and is 3 3/4" in diameter. In period catalogs it is indistinctly called Venetian, Pompeian, or Japanese, which all refer to imported fashion crazes of the period.
The Vase Displays the ever Popular Celery Green White Frit Glass with a hand form raised lip. The entire top lip show unevenness and that wonderful hand formed appearance. What makes this an interesting piece is when they executed the Blowing they rolled it in a White Frit Glass Power while the Vase was hot and attached to the Punty Rod. This picked up the Glass pieces and then it was put back in the oven and fired and the white frit became part of the Vase. When you stick your fingers inside the vase you can feel the vertical ribbing. The white frit was fused to these ribs on the outside but you cannot feel the ribs on the outside. This creates somewhat an optical illusion.
These Vases were used to grow Hyacinths Flowers. You would fill the Vase with water to the bottom of the neck. The Hyacinth bulb was placed in the opening not touching the water. The bulb would grow and its roots would extend down into the water and absorb the water as needed for growth. These Vases were extremely popular during the Victorian era. They made great Flowers Vases for the Window sills.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks or dings. The piece is unsigned as is the case with these pieces. This method reminds me a little bit some of the LCT Tiffany Favrile Cypriote Glass examples. This is a quality piece of early American Art Glass. In period catalogs it is indistinctly called Venetian, Pompeian, or Japanese, which all refer to imported fashion crazes of the period.
This piece was made very early, circa 1898-1906. There is documentation that this was a design in the 1898 Catalog of The National Glass Company in which Thomas Dugan was a Partner. The Dugan Glass Company Came into being 1902-1906.
The Dugan Venetian line dates to 1906. « Less
