Mercury Glass actually contains no Mercury; it is so-called for its appearance of silver under glass. It is double-hulled, blown glass with a solution of silver nitrate coating the interior.
These vases were made in Bohemia in the latter part of the 19th century. They are hand painted with white enamel in a spiky, floral style.
Beautiful and lustrous in appearance!
Height: 7 3/8 inches.
Base Diameter: 2 7/8 inches.
Top Diameter: 2 1/2 inches.
Although unmarked, the Bohemian origin is conveyed by the feather-light weight of the glass. American Mercury Glass was made of flint glass, which is fairly heavy. English Mercury Glass was made of leaded glass, which was heavier still.
These vases are in good condition, with no chips or cracks. The seals covering the pontils are missing. There is some flaking and clouding of the silver lining, particularly on one foot rim. There is some spotting; some of the painted enamel decorations are worn off.
This would be a fine addition to your art glass collection!

Two matching large antique cast iron 6’ pediments for either doors or windows, dating from the 19th Century, featuring an elegant Neoclassical scroll design with an anthemion and acanthus leaves. We bought these from a local man who had them in his family since the 1930’s – when the Hermitage Women’s Club here in Nashville was torn down in the 30’s, the man’s mother salvaged these to use in a house she planned to build. However, she ended up building a house in a different style, and these have been in storage ever since. Each pediment measures 72†long, 16†tall and approx. 2-1/2†deep. THE PEDIMENTS ARE SOLD INDIVIDUALLY; THERE IS NOW ONE AVAILABLE.

Outstanding original five light chandelier, circa 1935, made by Lincoln Lighting Products of Detroit, Michigan.

Outstanding original five light chandelier, circa 1935, made by Lincoln Lighting Products of Detroit, Michigan.
Art Deco Lighting enthusiasts will recognize the shades as the same ones used on Lincoln's Fleur-de-Lis series, but this is a much scarcer light fixture than the Fleur de Lis and yes, these are the correct shades for it. As curators of the only American Art Deco Lighting Museum we are familiar with this lovely light. Note the design of the shade matching the design on the bowl. Perfect match. These were always designed to go together and what a striking appeal it has too.
This chandelier has been rewired although it still has the ambiance of a 1930s light. Five new high end sockets, with wiring, were installed and we also left an extra 2 feet of extra central lead wire in case the purchaser wishes to extend the length of the light with more chain than supplied. We could help you with that if so desired.
The finish of the self-colored aluminum frame is very nice. It has a lovely pewter contrast as hopefully the pictures show.
The details of the shades are outstanding. These shades were supplied both as a clear frosted and orange/amber. Orange/amber is normally preferred and was more expensive. This fixture's shades are in very good condition with some VERY minor flaking around the fitters which is extremely hard to see unless you were right up to the light and looking very hard for them.
Measurements: This fixture now measures 26 inches tall from the ceiling to the bottom of the finial. It has a diameter of 18 1/2 inches, shade tip to shade tip. A full mounting kit will be provided so there will be nothing else to buy...or do...before mounting this beauty.

Very impressive two light pendant, circa 1935, made by Lincoln Lighting Products of Detroit, Michigan. This light came from a series that was called the Triangle Line. Perhaps the name referred to the case design since the shade does not show any triangles.
The light is attractive and a working two light fixture which can be difficult to find.
The finish of the light is very good being self colored aluminum with a nice dark line in the cracks accenting the design of the light. The detail of the carved shades in this pendant is simply outstanding. These carved amber shades are simply remarkable for color and design and condition. Orange/amber is normally preferred when collecting art deco lighting...and you really have to go some distance to find nicer deeply carved amber shades than these.
Measurements: This fixture measures 23 inches tall from the ceiling to the bottom of the finial and has a width of 12 1/2 inches. The ceiling canopy has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches. We will supply the bracket (crossbar) for this light so literally, you can hang this light and have it working minutes after receiving it.
A rewired, authentic two light art deco pendant. Ready to hang.
This light has been rewired and still has the ambiance of a 1930s light. New sockets, with new central lead wire, were installed. Each socket is capable of a 100 watt bulb.

Cast iron, painted polychrome five light chandelier made by Globe in the 1930s. Globe is a unique company and not as common as Lincoln or Markel but they did some very exciting things.
Their brand name was Electrolier and while some folks assume that there was a company named Electrolier, it was simply a brand that Globe marketed and impressed into many of their castings.
While the polychrome painting is pretty darn nice...there is a bit of an extra bonus in painting. When someone painted the ceiling, where this chandelier was living, they sort of missed a bit and added some paint to the ceiling canopy. I am sure with a bit of patience, most... if not all...of it will come off, but we like to supply antiques as found and will let the new owner decide removal methods.
This chandelier is a five light which has been rewired with five new sockets and lead wire. Each socket can handle a 100 watt bulb, so 500 watts is quite possible with this light.
The shades are in wonderful condition without any chips or cracks. NONE.
Measurements: 15 inches from the top of the ceiling canopy to the bottom of the ceiling bowl. It has a diameter from shade tip to shade tip of 17 inches. For the proper decorative scheme, this would be an outstanding example of an Art Deco chandelier. Note the frame is beautifully cast of iron with nice detail and clarity of casting.
85% of the finish is just about mint. Rewired with new porcelain sockets and central lead wire and comes with a complete mounting kit...so.... this chandelier is ready to hang and begin life in a different art deco or bungalow atmosphere.
Great for a lower ceiling with an overall height of only 15".

Very nice pair of circa 1924 wall sconces. The reason we are saying "1924" is that they are signed on the back as follows: "Design Pat 4-1-24 Made in U.S.A" Unique sconces More »
Very nice pair of circa 1924 wall sconces. The reason we are saying "1924" is that they are signed on the back as follows: "Design Pat 4-1-24 Made in U.S.A" Unique sconces since they are so well signed and documented. The gorgeous quality shades are signed "Lightolier" where they slip into the fitter.
The metal of the backplates is normal white metal with a lovely pewter finish. The castings are crisp and obvious of very fine quality. The lovely shaped drop in shades are simply so unique both as to shape and decor. They even have a slight iridescence to them, which is very attractive. Being original shades, nearly 90 yrs old, minor "NEVER SEEN" flakes are where the shades are slipped into the fitters. These sconces have been completely rewired with true Bakelite sockets; new switches (which are identical to the 1930's types by Leviton) and wire. Everything here, both shades and backplates, are original. The mounting nut in the center of the backplate is an exact reproduction since the originals were missing when we received the sconces. Very minor indeed.
Sockets are rewired, UL approved for up to 100 watts each.
Measurements: Max overall height of 12". Max width: 5 ½" It will project into the room, from the wall a mere 5 1/2".
Price: $325.00 for the pair, plus shipping. « Less

Interesting wrought aluminum Arts & Crafts pair of sconces. Circa 1920 or so...very interesting offering having DEEP hammered pewter finish.
We are especially impressed by the way that the shades match the backplates. It is hard to see in the pictures, but that large tan area below the embossed floral clear decor band, is crackled or hammered rough finish to match the finish of the backplates. Hard to see in the pictures but very impressive.
Completely rewired to UL Standards and ready to go. Each sconce does have a switch which has been replaced by the same maker "Leviton" who made the same switch at the turn of the century.
Measurements: 13" tall. The widest part of the sconce is the shade that is 6" wide. It will project into a room a mere 6 1/2".
