The bowl is very deep with a high foot. the central design is floral with engraved scrolls. On the side also engraved scrolls and signed with signature of the maker! Beautiful crackled glaze and awesome colours in hand.
Size: 155x66 mm.

A very rare and interesting pottery bowl, dating to Nishapur in Iran, 9th.-10th. cent. AD.
The bowl has beautiful calligraphic elements in black and with scrolls on a red glaze.
Size: 230 mm. x 63 mm.
Condition: Nice. Internal hairline, not repaired and almost invisible to the naked eye. This can easily be mended, but we have left it as is. Some possible restoring under lacquered surfaces to preserve the fragile glaze. « Less

The tube looks a bit like a horn and is finely painted.
Condition: Museum quality for size and type!
Provenance: Lyngby collection, very old collection, most pieces incl. this tube, were imported in the 1960ties. The entire collection was approved by the cultural authorities in the relevant South American countries and the collection was released for open sale. « Less

A superb very large and deep ceramic bowl with black decoration on creamy white glaze, dating 9th-10th. cent. A.D.
Ceramic bowl, Earthenware, engobe, under glaze slip-painted. Bowls including bold black inscriptions in the so-called kufic angular calligraphy were produced in the important ceramic centers of Nishapur in eastern Iran. The text often contains a proverb in Arabic or a series of wishes. This bowl is decorated with artistic calligraphy. The bowl represents the first revival of the traditional art due to the rise of the native Islamic dynasty of the Samanids. A nicer bowl that shows the true glory of the simple artful style that owes much to the Sassanian art and to the earlier cultures of the Iran.
Size: 275 mm. wide and c. 100 mm. high.

Many of the heads has an almost 3D-like relief and the condition is excellent. Many fine details!

Ceramic bowl, Earthenware, engobe, under glaze slip-painted.
