Pair of Doulton Lambeth autumn foliage salt-glaze, stoneware vases. Leaves were pressed into the soft clay to make an impression, which was then decorated. Mottled blue/green ground with orange/brown leaves. Marks date them between 1883 and 1886. Artists monogramm, and Doulton Lambeth impressed stamp to base. 17' high and 7" wide at widest point. These beautiful RARE matching vases are part of the Bitossi Ceramiche Historical Archives in Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy and are part of a Special Collection that was especially made in the mid century for Raymor. The artist is Aldo Londi (1911-2004) who had been the Art Director for Bitossi for over 50 years. This is a very rare set and it is not easy to find these pieces if any in the auctions now. The colors and leaf etchings are spectacular. They are both in excellent antique/vintage condition with no cracks ot crazing. They are both numbered (5266/5267) "Italy". These pieces have been authenticated by Giampoalo Monte with Flavia Bitossi Ceramiche S.R.I. in Italy. The tall vases is 9 3/4" tall and 6.5" diameter at it's widest. Lovely Royal Doulton vase, in the series ware Roses G pattern. This design was introduced in 1940 and withdrawn by 1959. It has a freehand pattern of open roses against a hand decorated blue/grey/green background. Pattern number D6227. The shape is wide and trumpet-like, curving away at the upper rim,. Vase has a mottled aqua glaze to the inside. It is a good shape and size to use for flowers. Measures 14.5 cm high (5.3/4 inches). Top rim is 15 cm diameter (just under 6 inches). Excellent condition, apart from a few minor marks in the bottom inside.   « Less

This vase is very rare and in great shape. Absolutely stunning piece. No chips or cracks. Stands 6 3/4" tall and 5" wide. Only thing wrong with the paint is that the gold on the handles is faded slightly, which is standard for its age. This vase was created somewhere between 1891 and 1921, which can be shown by the stamp on the bottom. In 1921, Japan was to be used instead of Nippon, so the Nippon age came to an end.   « Less
