This is an etching of J.F. Millet by A.Cadart after a Alauze painting. This is an original fine art etching.
Adolphe Lalauze A French 19th century etcher and illustrator, Adolphe Lalauze first gained employment as a recording controller and then studied art in Paris under Gaucherel. Early in his career he concentrated mostly upon original etching, with many of his works in this medium initially commissioned by Cadart in Paris.
Cadart, Delatre and the Societe des aqua-Fortistes: This original etching was published by France’s first important publisher of the etching revival. In 1862 Cadart founded the Societe des aqua-Fortistes. Until its demise in 1867, it was responsible for publishing some of the greatest French art from this important decade. Around 1870, Cadart (along with Luquet) reopened his publishing house and continued to commission original etchings from such masters as Jongkind, Bracquemond, Manet, Ribot and many others. Almost all of the fine etchings published by Cadart were printed by Auguste Delatre.
Adolphe Lalauze “Portrait of J. F. Milletâ€, etching was published in “Souvenirs De Barbizon†in the late 19th century in Paris. The plate signed work measure 4.50 by 3.50 inches approximate (plate mark) and in good condition. « Less

This is titled anonymous because I am unsure of the artist. If I had to guess it would be Berchem because it is very similar to his art and content of the series Animalia. This sheet has "Etching, Dutch School 18th century" hand written on the back. The sheet is pattern similar to that of paper used in the 18th century and has aged a bit. Has dinginess to paper and is quite fragile with a crease down the middle but can be professionally cleaned and flattened. This is a vintage piece, anyone can tell when they see and feel the sheet.
Sheet size is 9.5'' by 7''. This has no text on verso and does have plate marks. « Less

Claude Lorrain, traditionally just Claude in English (also Claude Gellée, his real name, or in French Claude Gellée, dit le Lorrain) (c. 1600 – 21 or 23 November 1682) was an artist of the Baroque era who was active in Italy, and is admired for his achievements in landscape painting and etching.
Claude was born in 1604 or 1605 into poverty in the town of Chamagne, Vosges in Lorraine – then the Duchy of Lorraine, an independent state until 1766 and now in northeast France. He was one of five children. His actual name was Claude Gellée, but he is better known by the province in which he was born. Orphaned by age of twelve, he went to live at Freiburg with an elder brother, Jean Gellée, a woodcarver. He afterwards went to Rome to seek a livelihood and then to Naples, where he apprenticed for two years, from 1619 to 1621, under Goffredo (Gottfried) Wals. He returned to Rome in April 1625 and was apprenticed to Agostino Tassi. He got into a fight with Leonaert Bramer.
He apparently was able to tour in Italy, France and Germany, including his native Lorraine, suffering numerous misadventures. Claude Deruet, painter to the duke of Lorraine, kept him as assistant for a year; and at Nancy he painted architectural subjects on the ceiling of the Carmelite church.
An impression from the same plate is at the San Francisco Museum Of Art. Visit this link for more details.

This is a lithograph (after the poster). Beautifully printed in Paris in 1951 by Mourlot Freres, this multi-stone color lithograph faithfully reproduces the original Toulouse-Lautrec poster in a smaller-size format. The total sheet (including margins) measures 12 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches (320 x 248mm). Signed in the stone with the Toulouse-Lautrec monogram signature (not hand-signed). Toulouse-Lautrec “Yvette Guilbert†Ltd. Edition Lithograph on Japon Paper.
THIS IS A LATER STATE FROM THE ORIGINAL PLATE AND THEREFORE CONSIDERED AN ORIGINAL LAUTREC.
Originally published in 1895 in the Elles portfolio, this lithograph is from the posthumous printing authorized by the Musee d' Albi from Lautrec's original stone. The edition size for the vert was 200 numbered impressions. There were also 1700 impressions in black and 50 in sepia. This particular lithograph was printed in addition to the 200 for the publisher.
Sheet measures 14.75 by 10.75 inches (sheet). Paper is of a vellum finish.
Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa or simply Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (November 24, 1864 — September 9, 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draftsman, and illustrator, whose immersion in the colorful and theatrical life of fin de siècle Paris yielded an oeuvre of exciting, elegant and provocative images of the modern and sometimes decadent life of those times. Toulouse-Lautrec is known along with Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Gauguin as one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period. In a 2005 auction at Christie's auction house a new record was set when "La blanchisseuse", an early painting of a young laundress, sold for $22.4 million U.S.
Throughout his career, which spanned less than 20 years, Toulouse-Lautrec created 737 canvases, 275 watercolors, 363 prints and posters, 5,084 drawings, some ceramic and stained glass work, and an unknown number of lost works. Toulouse-Lautrec is known along with Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Gaugin as one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period. His debt to the Impressionists, in particular the more figurative painters Manet and Degas, is apparent. In the works of Toulouse-Lautrec can be seen many parallels to Manet’s bored barmaid at A Bar at the Folies-Bergère and the behind-the-scenes ballet dancers of Degas. He excelled at capturing people in their working environment, with the colour and the movement of the gaudy night-life present, but the glamour stripped away. He was masterly at capturing crowd scenes in which the figures are highly individualized. At the time that they were painted, the individual figures in his larger paintings could be identified by silhouette alone, and the names of many of these characters have been recorded. His treatment of his subject matter, whether as portraits, scenes of Parisian night-life, or intimate studies, has been described as both sympathetic and dispassionate.
Toulous-Lautrec’s skilled depiction of people relied on his painterly style which is highly linear and gives great emphasis to contour. He often applied the paint in long thin brushstrokes which often leave much of the board on which they are painted showing through. Many of his works may best be described as drawings in colored paint.
After Toulouse-Lautrec’s death, his mother, the Comtesse Adèle Toulouse-Lautrec, and Maurice Joyant, his art dealer, promoted his art. His mother contributed funds for a museum to be built in Albi, his birthplace, to house his works. As of 2005, his paintings had sold for as much as US$14.5 million. « Less

Eugène Louis Gabriel Isabey (22 July 1803 – 27 April 1886) was a French painter, draftsman, and printmaker.Born in Paris, the son of Jean-Baptiste Isabey, a painter as well, Eugène Isabey studied and worked at the Louvre Museum. Early in his career his paintings consisted of mostly watercolor landscapes. In 1820, he travelled to Normandy and Britain painting land and seascapes.
Isabey journeyed with the French Expedition to Algiers in 1830 as an illustrator. The expedition's paintings sold poorly on the market and encouraged him to switch to narrative and historical painting. He was later selected to become one of Louis-Philippe’s court painters. « Less
