For Auction I have a lovely piece of pottery made by the Peters and Reed Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a Vase and it is the ever popular "Moss Aztec" Line of Art Pottery. The Vase measures 6 1/8" tall and is 4 5/8" in diameter at the top opening and this is the outside measurements. The inside opening measures 3 7/8" wide.
The Vase depicts an embossed Daisy Style Flowers on long stems. The piece is glazed in the Moss Aztec technique which is a Terra Cotta with a Verde Accent applied over it. It resembles Moss that grows in shady areas as it is in the crevices or lower relief areas of the design. There is a very large amount of the Green Moss in all the low areas of the Vase. There is a waterproofing glaze on the interior so you can actually use it. The Crispness of the Flowers are realistic and very well detailed.
The piece is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The Vase shows minimal signs of use. This piece is unsigned however, it is guaranteed to be Vintage Peters and Reed from the Moss Aztec line. This is shown in the Sanford "Peters and Reed" Book on page 79 as Shape #171.
Peters and Reed Pottery (1897-1919) was bought out in 1920 and the name was changed to Zane Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. They still produce some of the same styles as Peters and Reed. They changed from Red Clay to White Clay Products in 1926. Frank Ferrel designed this Line for Peters and Reed. He was employed there from 1906-1918. In 1918 he left Peters and Reed to work for Roseville Pottery.
The piece was made Circa 1910-1915. « Less

For sale I have a Lovely piece of Pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Cornish" and the form is a Squat Vase. The Vase measures 5 1/2" tall and is approximately 6 1/4" in diameter at the widest point. The rim measures approximately 1 11/16" wide outside measurements.
The Vase depicts a Mottled Caramel or Terra Cotta colored Background Glaze. Weller considered this their Brown in this line. There are embossed leaves with a stem that has berries hanging from it. The Leaves overlay three rings that surround the Vase and there are 2 Mock Scroll Handles applied on each side. The back of the Vase is Plain except for the Mottled Glaze. The leaves have an Olive Green Hue to them and three of the Berries are Glazed in a black glaze. The other two are Glazed in a Pale Green as if they have not ripened as of yet.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The Vase is signed on the bottom with the incised Script "Weller Pottery" as well as the letter "B" in Black. This was more than likely the Artist or the finisher's mark. I have a similar Rose Bud Vase with the same Artist initial. This Vase will work well in any Arts and Crafts of Mission setting as well as a Country decor.
The Vase was made Circa 1933. « Less

For sale is a beautiful Jardinière made by The Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. The pattern is "Scroll" and the shape is called a "Jardinière, Planter or Ferner" and the Glaze in known as "Blended". This lovely Jardinière is a nice size as it measures 6 1/2" tall and is 7 3/4" in diameter.
The Planter depicts a border of Embossed Scrolls around the top rim separated by a round bead between each scroll. The "Belly" of the Jardinière has vertical alternating reeds that are molded in high and low relief. The shape of these reeds also alternates in shapes of Elongated rectangles with Elongated Ovals for a very nice Arts and Crafts effect. The bottom third of the Planter is finished with four horizontal rings to complete the look.
This is a Spectacular example of the Blended glaze and is by far the nicest one I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The base color is Green as that is the color of the interior as well as the background color on the exterior. This Planter has a rainbow palette of colors that drip from the top almost all the way to the base. The colors are Teal to Country Blue, Fuchsia to Purple, Tan to Rust, and a warm Brown at the Base.
The Jardinière is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed with number "15" inside a Shield with a Circle around it. The is The Nelson McCoy Pottery mark and dates the Planter to be have been made, Circa 1925-1929. « Less

For sale is a lovely vase with a Wonderful Glaze combination made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Carnelian II" and the shape is a More »
For sale is a lovely vase with a Wonderful Glaze combination made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Carnelian II" and the shape is a Double Handled Flaring Vase. The Vase is large as it measures 8 1/8" tall and is 6 7/8" in diameter outside handles measurement.
The Vase displays a Wonderful example of this Carnelian II Glaze. There is a deep rich Purple Wisteria Glaze that drips down from the top over the edge and down towards the bottom of the Vase. It swirls into a Pink to Dusty Rose Bubble Gum Glaze at the bottom. It is then Marbleized with a lighter hue of Plum, more like Raspberry and Lilac. The Glaze is Goopy and drippy as you can see an feel the thickness around the pot. It kinds of reminds me of Cotton Candy as the Glaze Looks that Yummy. It is accented with Two Applied Art Deco Styled Handles that rise up off the bottom waist and connect at the base of the tall Flaring Neck.
The vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is not signed on the bottom and more than likely had a Paper or Foil Label. The Vase does have the number 332 written in a Red Grease Pencil. This is as good as a signature as it is Roseville Shape Number 332-8 in their Carnelian Line. There is also the number 7 written in a Blue Grease Pencil just under the shape number and is most likely the finishers mark. This Shape was adapted from the Carnelian I Line. This was not uncommon for Roseville to do this with the Carnelian II line in their earlier years of this particular pattern. The inside of the Pot shows just how wonderful and Goopy this Glaze really is. There are pools of glaze all over the interior
The piece has an Art Deco Appeal. This Vase is all about the Glaze and Form and this one has it all. This is a great example of this particular glaze and I'm quite sure the buyer will not be disappointed. The Vase was made circa, 1915-1927.

For sale is a lovely Art Glass Vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Astartig" and the form is a Flower Vase. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 5 1/4" tall and has a diameter of 3 1/8" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 2 1/8".
The Vase displays a very beautiful Candia (Gold) Silberiris texture with random patterns pinched within the surface while the glass was still warm from the furnace and finished with a scalloped irregular top rim. The iridescence is just outstanding as you can see vivid colors of Gold, Platinum Blue and very strong Fuchsia. The Base Glass is Clear with a Gold Applied decoration. Astartig (branch) glass used a highly iridescent gold finish over Candia glass, usually free form pieces, with small protrusions pulled from the body of the glass. The bottom does display a counter sunk polished pontil. This is the mark of a quality piece of art Glass. The Vase is not signed but it is a very well documented Loetz Decor. The Vase is very clean outside and in as It shows minimal signs of use.
This is a very nice vase that is not so commonly found. The decoration is brilliant and well defined. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. For sale is a very lovely Art Pottery Basket Vase made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The design is the ever popular, "Snowberry" pattern. It is done in the most sought after Blue background Glaze. The Basket is rather large as it stands 8 1/4" tall and is 9" in diameter outside handle measurements.
The Vase depicts very pleasing clusters of White Berries with a handful of detained green leaves on brown winding branches flowing from the top to the bottom. This is set against a background Glaze that bleeds from a medium blue to a Rosie Blue in the middle and back to a medium at the bottom. There is a Triangular Shaped Styled Handle that loops over from the top lip and attaches to the other sides waist. This gives this piece that Art Deco flair!
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is some very minor crazing and this seem to be typical with this glaze especially with the basket shape. The Vase is signed with the "Roseville U.S.A." Raised Relief Cipher Mark along with the mold number "1BK-8" also in raised relief. The "BK" Stands for Basket. There is also a raised letter 3 in the bottom glaze. I'm not sure what this means.
This is truly a lovely Basket Vase in a very desirable Glaze color. The Vase was made Circa 1947, just after World War II
