For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The Item is a Hand Blown "Melon Ribbed Perfume/Cologne Bottle" and it is done in the Verre de Soie Style of Glass. This was Frederick Carder's Favorite Glass he formulated. Verre de Soie literally means "Glass of Silk". When you run the exterior of the Perfume across your face it really feels like Silk!! The Perfume is a nice size as it stands 4 1/2" tall to the top of the stopper and is 3" in diameter.
The Perfume Body displays a Milky White Iridescence with a Green Jade Flame Shaped Stopper. This is such a wonderful and gracefully shaped perfume. This shape is definitely a Steuben Trademark as it is a Melon Shape. This is very organic in appearance. The Perfume displays wide Heavy Vertical Ribs that appear to be blown out at the bottom like you would see in a real Gourd. These Vertical Ribs rises up from the round bottom in between the Blow-Outs and softly fades as it reaches the top lip.
The Perfume is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Stopper is in equally as good of shape. The Perfume appears to have been well taken care of during its life. This Perfume is unsigned as this Style "Verre de Soie" usually carried a paper label. The piece does display the counter sunk Polished Pontil. This is the sign of Quality Hand Blown Art Glass.
Steuben Art Glass is some the Highest Quality Glass you can own. At the turn of the Century LCT Tiffany Studio's Favrile line was their main competitor and Steuben fared equally as well. Steuben created some of the nicest Art Glass Vases the World has ever seen.
This is Design #2183 in the definitive Steuben reference, Paul Gardner's, The Glass of Frederick Carder, page 240. This is Design #1455 in The Steuben Club Website's Shape Gallery. The statement is added that the #2183 is the same as Shape #1455. There were 8 sizes in this shape. Some refer to this shape as a Perfume but the proper shape is Cataloged as a Cologne by Steuben. An absolutely gorgeous color, and in excellent condition. This Perfume/Cologne was made Circa 1905-1920 « Less

For sale is a lovely vintage beaded purse in a monochrome design. The purse measures 12" tall in overall height and 6" in diameter. The fringe measures 2 1/4" in length and the strap is 3 1/4" long.
The body of the purse is a circular shape and has bronze cut glass beads covering a red linen background. The beads are sewn on in a circular fashion to accentuate the shape of the purse. There is a heavy looped fringe adorning the bottom half of the purse. The purse has a small beaded strap and the purse was made to hang off of a woman's wrist for proper display. There is a brown silk liner with a snap closure that is in working order.
The purse is in Excellent condition as there are no rips or tears to report and no missing beads or loose fringe. The purse is unsigned and was probably made by an experienced seamstress or imported from Europe. There were many instruction books available as purses had become an essential fashion accessory.
The purse was made Circa 1920's « Less

For sale is a lovely piece of Art Glass made by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn of Eleonorenhain Bohmen (Bohemia). This is now modern day "Czechoslovakia". It is a large Art Deco Shaped Vessel with a Metal cage around the Glass Blow-Ins. It is a rather large size as it stands 10 7/8" tall and is 7" in diameter to the outside of the Blow-Ins. The opening of the vase is 4 11/16" at the outside rim.
The Vase is cased with Clear over Pink, Yellow and Deep Purple decorations over a white cased liner. The Glass was blown into the metal frame that has been welded or soldered together. This is a very difficult technique to master and very few examples of this have been seen. It has an overall feel of Art Deco style due to the color and form. It is similar to the Daum Blow-Ins with the Edgar Brandt frames but it is not quite the quality level.
This Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. The piece was blown from the top into a mold with this metal frame. It was then cut and polished at the rim. This is quite typical of the European Glass Houses to do this. The American houses usually fired polished the top edge and didn't have a cut and polished one. This Vase was most likely signed with the Acid Etched "Czechoslovakia" in block lettering mark however, due to the blow in form it most likely would not sit level so the bottom was ground to sit evenly.
This is a quality piece of European Art Glass and would enhance any Art Glass Collection. The Vase would make a lovely addition to any Art Deco or Art Nouveau Decor. This piece was made, Circa 1905-1920. I'm sure the lucky winner will be elated with their purchase. « Less

For sale is a lovely vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Oceanik" and the form is a Tapered Shoulder Vase. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 4 1/2" tall and has a diameter of 3 1/4" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 1 7/8". The very top lip has a diameter of 1 7/8" giving this Vase its balance with the bottom.
The base glass is aquamarine in color. The Vase has a wonderful raised relief "Wave" Pattern in the glass. It is further decorated with an Oil Spot finish. The vase displays a very beautiful rainbow colored iridescence with Fuchsia tones throughout. It is accented with 4 dimpled or thumbprint indentations at the shoulder part of the vase, with a short neck rising up from the indentations. It is very European in design. This is somewhat common for Loetz's pieces to have a thumbprint decororation but the form in this Decor is not so commonly found.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Vase does display a very nice flat polished top lip which is very common with European Art Glass. The Vase including the bottom shows some of the most beautiful Fuchsia Iridescent Coloring one can imagine. The Vase is very clean inside and shows virtually no signs of use. It appears to have been a Cabinet piece most if not all of its life. This vase is known as Oceanic (Wellenoptisch) Prod. Nr. 1259 in the Loetz Catalog.
This is a Lovely cabinet Vase that is not so commonly found. You Loetz collectors will welcome this fine addition into your collection. This Vase was made, circa 1900-1905 and is considered the early years for Loetz. « Less

For sale is a Lovely piece of Art Glass made by The Durand Glass Company of Vineland, NJ. I have a very nice Vase done in Durand's Popular Orange Glow Lustre Line. The Vase More »
For sale is a Lovely piece of Art Glass made by The Durand Glass Company of Vineland, NJ. I have a very nice Vase done in Durand's Popular Orange Glow Lustre Line. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 6 5/8" tall and is 4" in diameter at the bulbous bottom. The top has a diameter of 3 5/8" outside measurement.
The Vase has a very beautiful subtle orange/gold Aurene, Favrile iridescence to it. There are wonderful strong Fuchsia Hues throughout the body of the Vase. The Vase has a very pleasing unique shape. I call this shape an Squat Bulbous Trumpet shape. It starts from the bottom with a round shallow raised foot. The vase then flares out and rolls back in like a Flower Bulb. This flows into a narrow cylindrical neck that rises up and flares out in the shape of a Trumpet. The bottom or foot on Art Glass Vases are usually applied and are considered 2 separate pieces. This one is not as it is actually formed from the body of the vessel and would be considered part of the Vase.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings or scratches to the outside surface iridescence. There is a scratch on the side pictured and is considered insignificant. The Vase does display a counter sunk polished Pontil. This is the mark of a quality piece of Art Glass. The Vase is not signed as is the case with many Durand Art Glass pieces. They usually had a Paper Label like the one pictured. These fell off over time from cleaning. This Vase can be documented in the Book "Durand The Man and his Glass" by Edward J. Meschi. It is on page 166 bottom left and is model number 1730. I have shown a picture of this same shape but it is done in a Rarer King Tut Decorated Version. That form can be documented on page 46 far right middle row.
Quezal also used this shape in their Catalogue line. When Quezal closed in 1924 and Martin Bach and a few Glass Blowers came down to set up the Fancy Goods Shop at Durand they brought with them all the molds and Inventory. Durand liquidated their stock and blew many of the same shapes using Durand Glass Formula's.
Durand did not start making his Artistic Glass until December 1924. This is when Quezal Glass and Decorating Company went out of Business and Martin Bach Jr. and several of his workers migrated to South Jersey and set up shop at Durand. Durand blew glass in the Fancy Shop for only a short time as he was killed in an automobile accident in 1931. In 1932 The Durand Glass Company discontinued all of its Artistic Glass.
Durand was a Contemporary to Tiffany Studios, Steuben, Quezal and several others in the 20's. Although they blew glass in a shorter period of time than any of these Glass Houses Durand made his mark on the Art Glass World. This is a quality piece of Art Glass that is considered much Rarer because there are by far fewer examples of Durand Gold Iridescence Glass than his Contemporaries, Tiffany, Loetz, Steuben and Quezal.
This Vase was made Circa 1924-1932. « Less

For sale is a wonderful Arts & Crafts Design Vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Vase is a Tapered Ovoid Shape. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 6 7/8" tall and is approximately 3 1/2" in diameter at it widest point. The top opening is 2 1/4" in diameter outside measurement and has a 2" inside diameter opening.
The Vase displays a wonderful Arts and Crafts design of vertical paneled leaves. These are nestled inside of an incised pointed paneled border. There is a stylized four Petal Flower at the top of each pair of these leaves. The design repeats itself three times. The Vase has one of the Rarest Rookwood Pottery Glazes I have ever come across. I would described this as a Blue Crystalline on Mat Tan and Brown glaze. There is definitely 2 different brown tone glazes here. The crystals are applied evenly around the vase. When held to the light, these crystals shows their deep rich blue color. The Vase has a very carved organic look to it.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. Looking inside the Vase it shows minimal use. The piece is signed with Rookwood's Impressed Reverse "RP" and Sunburst Logo along with the Roman Numerals "XXIV" for the year of manufacture, 1924. There is also the mold number "2438" impressed under the date. The bottom shows just how thick this glaze really is.
This would make an outstanding addition to any Art Pottery Collection and would look just great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. Those of you whom collect rare Art Pottery Glazed Vessels do not want to let this one slip by!! « Less

For sale I have a nice piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Zephyr Lily" and the shape is a Tall Double Handled Vase. The Vase is large as it measures 10 1/2" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter outside handle measurement. The Base or Foot of the Vase measures 4" in diameter.
The Vase depicts tall lilies with slender stems and leaves in the background. The Flowers and Leaves are done in Raised Relief. The Background Glaze is blended from Moss Green To Sienna Brown. The Flowers are glazed in a Creamy Yellow Color and the leaves in a Sage Green. There are 2 Large Applied Handles that start at the Waist and are joined at the lower Neck of the vessel. This form is desirable and shows minimal signs of use. The inside is very clean!!
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, or chips. There is a small nick on the bottom outside ring. This cannot be seen when displayed and it is insignificant. The piece is signed with the raised relief mark of Roseville U.S.A. 137-10". There is also a Letter H in Black Grease pencil which is more than likely the finishers mark.
This is a large piece of Zephyr Lily and are usually found with cracks and chips. They are large and got knocked over. I am Happy to report that this one DOES NOT have cracks or chips. This is somewhat a Rare form as it is Hard To Find. Purchase with Confidence as this would be an excellent addition to one's Art Pottery Collection especially that of Roseville Zephyr Lily.
This Vase was made, Circa 1946. « Less

For sale is a wonderful Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made by The Marblehead Pottery Company of Marblehead, Massachusetts. The Shape is the very desirable Mission Shape Low Bowl or Planter. The Bowl Stands 1 5/8" tall and is 7 7/8" in diameter.
The Bowl or Planter is covered in a Smooth Speckled Indigo Glaze. This is also known as the infamous "Marblehead Blue Glaze". This is such a Pleasing Matt Blue Glaze and I can see why it was so popular during the day. The Inside displays a lighter Matt Robins Eggs Blue Waterproofing Glaze. The two tones of Blue look outstanding together.
The piece is considered to be in very good to excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few areas inside the Bowl that show wear in the lighter blue glaze. You can feel the finger grooves on the inside corners as this was a hand thrown piece. The piece is signed on the bottom with the Impressed Ship Logo along with the Initials "M" and "P" on each side of the sails for "Marblehead Pottery". There is also a Paper Label as a added Bonus.
This is a very nice example of this form and Glaze. This is the Harder to Find Low Bowl as it is only 1 5/8" tall. They just don't make them any lower. I have only seen a handful of these in my 38+ years as a Collector/Dealer. I am quite sure the buyer will be happy with their purchase. It will look just wonderful for those decorating in the Arts and Crafts, Mission Style Decor. It would look outstanding on a Stickley Furniture Bookcase.
Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day. The collectors that have collected their pieces rarely let them go. « Less

The Wall Pocket depicts three Daisies or Black Eyed Susan's in full bloom on tall stems with realistic leaves. The flowers are done in a Burnt Orange or Pumpkin Glaze with darker flower centers. There is a hint of Olive green color applied to the leaves. These are set on a dark chocolate all over background glaze. The flowers are inset into a panel or window on the piece, thus the name, Panel. The Wall Pocket has a very nice tapered form and would work nicely in any style of decor.

For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass made by The Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Mass. The item is a Wheel Cut Compote and it is done in the most popular Amethyst base glass. The Compote is a nice size as it stands 4 1/2" tall and is 8 1/4" in diameter. The foot has a diameter of 3 3/8".
The Compote displays a very pleasing Purple Color when out of Sunlight. When it is in sunlight the Compote displays a very beautiful subtle Amethyst Color. The wheel cutting is just outstanding!! The Cutting is deep and well defined. The Cutting has an Italian Flair in design. It is "Grapes and Leaves" and it is a design that intertwines and connects one leaf to the next with grapes hanging between them. The outside border of the compotes shows tiny oval football shaped cutting that totally encompasses the top rim. The foot even has wheel cutting of 4 Grapes Leaves. Truly a lovely piece of Art Glass!!
The Compote is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue to report is a scratch on the inside dimple portion in the center of the compote. There is minor scratches to the bottom foot. This is common for an 80 year old piece. The piece is not signed but is does display a counter sunk polished pontil. The tell tale sign of a quality piece of Art Glass. This is a documented Pairpoint Compote and was the same quality level of Steuben Colored Glass at the turn of the century. This Compote was made Circa 1920-1925. « Less
