This is a fabulous antique Art Deco skyscraper pendant light, dating from the 1930’s, with its original blue glass ziggurat shade. The pendant has a simple canopy and fitter. The magnificent blue sky scraper shade features a fabulous texture and a stepped design that finishes in a ribbed ziggurat. This light fixture is in excellent condition, and the glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, just the expected fleabites around the rim. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The pendant measures 12 ½” wide and 17” tall (body only), and 34” long overall. This is a fabulous antique Art Deco mailbox, dating from the 1930’s and featuring a streamlined design with rounded edges and a groove pattern running down the center. A nicely shaped metal flap at the top lifts for mail to be inserted; a larger door for retrieving mail has a loop for use with a lock. This mail box is in very good antique condition. This wall-mount mail box features a faux-riveted, sloped roof, and a rectangular front ornamented with a pierced six-pane design surrounded by abstract detail. A pair of wrought iron arms extends from the bottom to hold newspapers and magazines. This mail box is in very good antique condition. This is a wonderful antique Arts and Crafts mailbox, dating from the 1920’s. This wall-mounted mail box features a faux-riveted, sloped roof, and a rectangular front ornamented with a pierced window inside a shield. The mailbox finishes in a hinged newspaper holder at the bottom. It is in very good antique condition. The mail box measures 14 ¼” tall, 7 3/8” wide, and has a 3 ½” projection overall. Jean F. Millet "Woman Filling Water Cans", 1854 original wood engraving, conceived by Millet and engraved as a wood egraving by his brother is one of three offered here from the same limited edition portfolio, published by the fine art society, London in 1881 on fine Japon paper attached to a wove support sheet. Each work is professionally framed and in good condition. Take note this is one of three offered, one of the suite sold for $1,035.00 Image measures 3.25 by 5.5 inches and framed at 11.5 by 13.25 Inches in a ebony and gold frame. Images from this suite can be found is located in the chicago art institute at: http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/artwork/artist/2967 Jean-François Millet (October 4, 1814 — January 20, 1875) was a French painter and print-maker ) etchings , wood cuts and Lithography) and one of the founders of the Barbizon school in rural France. Millet is noted for his scenes of peasant farmers; he can be categorized as part of the naturalism and realism movements. After his first painting, a portrait, was accepted at the Salon of 1840, Millet returned to Cherbourg to begin a career as a portrait painter. However, the following year he married Pauline-Virginie Ono, and they moved to Paris. After rejections at the Salon of 1843 and Pauline's death by consumption, Millet returned again to Cherbourg.] In 1845 Millet moved to Le Havre with Catherine Lemaire, whom he would marry in a civil ceremony in 1853; they would have nine children, and remain together for the rest of Millet's life. In Le Havre he painted portraits and small genre pieces for several months, before moving back to Paris. It was in Paris in the middle 1840s that Millet befriended Constant Troyon, Narcisse Diaz, Charles Jacque, and Théodore Rousseau, artists who, like Millet, would become associated with the Barbizon school; Honoré Daumier, whose figure draftsmanship would influence Millet's subsequent rendering of peasant subjects; and Alfred Sensier, a government bureaucrat who would become a lifelong supporter and eventually the artist's biographer. In 1847 his first Salon success came with the exhibition of a painting Oedipus Taken down from the Tree, and in 1848 his Winnower was bought by the government.   « Less
