A very neat shell motif set of British theater sconces from England. These sconces are often called "Odeon Sconces" since one of the main movie house chains in Britain, named all their theaters "Odeon". In fact...it sometimes is a synonymous term for a movie theater. These sconces were often used with frosted, amber and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more. We have rewired these sconces to UL American standards with new American sockets, switches and wiring.
So, these are ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit which we will supply. Measures: 10" tall to the bottom of the switch with a width of also 10". Protrudes a mere 4 1/2" into the room. Uses standard base incandescent bulb up to 100 watts, or use our LED bulb for great energy savings.
Price: $ 550.00 for the pair with shades plus shipping charges. We have a matching chandelier, that came with these sconces for sale on another listing if you are thinking about a suite. « Less

What an interesting pair of sconces these are. While they are simply lovely, they are also a bit of a puzzle. They could have been custom made since the shades are Circa 1920-30 crackle glass, but the steel and iron fixtures seem more recent.
The shades are hand blown "art" form and are slightly different shapes and sizes. Each one fits its own sconce. This is another reason we believe that these were hand made, for a particular place for a particular client. Regardless of how they came into being.....the decorative effect is stunning.
Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulb. These sconces have been completely rewired and are supplied with all the mounting hardware. Each sconce does have its own switch which is identical to the ones used in 1910. It's hard to tell it was even replaced.
Measurements: The Overall sconce height is 15 ½". The back plate measures 3" wide x 11" tall. The widest width is the shades which...depending on where you measure them, will vary. But a maximum of 7 ½" is about the widest. The project into the room from the wall about 8 ½".
Price: $325.00 for the pair, plus shipping. « Less

A fabulous pair of antique double-arm sconces in cast iron, dating from the 1920’s, made by Markel Electric Products. These were salvaged from a house in Fort Madison, Iowa. The cast iron backplate features flowers and leaves at the top and bottom, with a rope oval in the center. Two wrought iron sconce arms, fastened with flower buttons, support double-layer foliate bobeches. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. The sconces measure 12†tall, 9-1/2†wide, and project 6†from the wall.

Lovely set of FOUR turn of the century mirror back sconces.
Circa 1920, these sconces have a lightness to them with a bit different ambiance. The BEVELLED mirror centers are special. The solid brass frame is quality. The shades are French by Vianne. Just a great combination all around.
Each sconce has been carefully re-wired to UL standards with new sockets and wire. Ready to go. These sconces will all be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware. Naturally, having a mirror back, a gentle installation hand is suggested during the installation process since it could be possible to break the nice bevelled mirror with too aggressive tightening of the mounting nut that runs through the mounting hole of the mirror.
Each sconce measures: Overall 11" tall. The maximum width is 4 1/2". The sconces will project into a room 5 1/4". All sconces are matching with the same dimensions.
$ 795.00 for the set of all four matching sconces...plus shipping. We will not split the lot. They should be kept together because four matching antique sconces are rather hard to find. « Less

Lovely pair of Circa 1930 wall sconces. Original backplates and original shades.
Old gold painted cases with touches of old nickel elaborations at the bottom.
The metal of the backplates is cast metal and then finished with old gold. The installed panel is so unusual and, while we have one of these in the museum, attribution has escaped us. Best guess has been Moe Bridges. Very neat for originality.
These sconces have been completely re-wired with true bakelite sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches, made by Leviton in the 20's...and still made up to two years ago. So these switches by Leviton are becoming even more rare as we note this.
Measurements: The Overall sconce height is 8". The maximum width is 7 1/2". It will project into the room from the wall, a mere 3".

ANT-272 Lovely pair of Circa 1920 wall sconces.
Original backplates and original shades.
These sconces have a lovely Edwardian pewter look and a great design that is so typical of the Edwardian style.
The original shades are very nice. A frosted center set off by two sections of amber. Due to their age, there is a place "or two" where there are very MINOR flakes to the shades where they fit into the holder (not seen). It is normal 90 year wear & tear and so very minor, but we have to mention it.
The metal of the backplates is cast white metal with a lovely pewter finish. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches, made by Leviton in the 20's...and still made up to ONE year ago. So these switches by Leviton are becoming more rare as we note this.
Measurements: The overall sconce height is 11 3/4". The maximum width (shade) is 5 3/4". It will project into the room 6" from the wall.

Pair of very impressive French, 5-light, large outstanding sconces, Circa 1910-20+.
These impressive wall statements are 40" tall. They are also 17 1/2" wide (shade tip to shade tip) and will project into the room 10" to 13" depending on which shade you measure.
Each sconce weighs in at about 30 pounds.
We completely re-wired these french sconces and removed the french sockets to convert them to our American bulbs and current.
The mounting of these sconces is more unique than normal. That shield medallion, on the backplate between the four arms, hides the main mounting device. The medallion itself is held onto the backplate by one slotted ball-screw just visible in the picture. Behind the medallion, the mounting device uses a large bore 3/8 nps all-thread to a heavy duty specially made crossbar which we will supply. A completely sophisticated mounting and finish for a great pair of french sconces.
We think it is an excellent choice for an area needing a significant pair of sconces.
This fixture comes complete with our neat little candle style 35C-E26 LED bulb. This little 2 watt bulb produces almost as much light as a 25 watt incandescent bulb but only nibbles at the electricity. AND....it lasts 30,000 hours. We naturally carry replacements if an accident, or a matching option, deems necessary at some time in the future.
$2,250 for the complete pair with shades and LED bulbs plus shipping. « Less

Lovely pair of double Circa 1920 wall sconces. They are signed, cast into the metal, "Brandt Mfg Co., Patent applied for". Who wouldn't like to consider that these had something to do with a member of the Edward Brandt family who are famous for doing the iron work at the Paris 1925 expo in Paris? Just a thought.
These sconces have a nice Edwardian ambiance having a pewter look with a heavy cast and embellished backplate design that is so typical of the Edwardian design style.
The shades are simple opal and match the straight line ambiance of the fixtures quite well. They are in excellent condition.
The metal, of the backplates, is cast iron with a lovely pewter finish. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. These sconces have been completely re-wired with true bakelite sockets and all new wire.
Measurements: Each overall sconce height is 11". The maximum width is 10" (outside edge of the shade to shade). It will project into the room, from the wall a mere 4".
