A lovely little tobacco poster for Viceroy cigarettes - in very good condition, and measuring 9 x 15 inches. The piece is unsigned and not dated, but we estimate it to be roughly circa 1920. Additional information about Viceroy was provided to me by an e-bay member: ''Viceroy cigarettes are made by Brown & Williamson, which was owned by British American Tobacco, and, since 2004, by Reynolds American Inc., a joint venture between the U.S. branch of British American Tobacco and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. ''Viceroy originated in the U.S. in 1936 as the world''s first cork-tipped filter cigarette. In 1952 it was the first brand to add a cellulose acetate filter which established a new industry standard. In 1953, Viceroy Filter Kings were introduced. In 1990, Viceroy Box Kings and Lights Box Kings were introduced on the U.S. market, followed by Viceroy Ultra Lights Kings and Ultra Lights 100''s in 1992 and New Viceroy 100''s box styles, and Viceroy Menthol in 2000. All Viceroy styles changed to a more contemporary packaging on packs and cartons without changes to the product blend. As of December of 2007, Viceroy is no longer made.'' Wonderful, original, vintage, this lithographic print is from a collection called Art and Artists of our time, which was published in 1888 and which claimed to feature the best of the best. Nicely detailed, this print shows the proverbial ''farmers daughter'' feeding the chickens with grain held in the pouch of her apron. Print measures 3.5 x 5.5 and framed measures roughly 10 x 11 inches. Would enhance any setting. Purchased in Europe, this charming and colorful advertisement was most likely printed in the late 1920''s - early 1930s. It is very much like a Cappiello print of the same design and could have been produced either by Cappielo or a talented copyist - as it is unsigned, we are selling it as is: a lovely and colorful production piece for Chocolat Klaus, with offices in Le Locle (Switzerland) and Morteau (france). It offered a selection of treats (bouchees). The wonderful use of flowers in the top left and right corners indicates that this piece was probably produced at the very beginning of the Deco period when Art Nouveau influences could still be seen in advertising and artworks. Ready to be shipped, it is in very good condition (some previous folds are evident) and mounted on linen. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL, NOT A REPRODUCTION. The size of the maquette is 12 x 9 inches. A powerful political poster with an graphics that match the bare-bones style. In 1961 France was consumed with the ''Algerian Question'' and that is what this poster deals with. The Committee for Peace in Algeria (Comite pour la Paix en Algerie) was protesting what it called the fascism of the OAS against Algeria. Published by a printing house that called itself The War (La Guerre) in 1961, this piece measures 24 x 39, is linen backed and in very good condition.
