Here is an exquisite mauve pink and muted orange highly decorated Qing ( pronounced Ching) vase. It is an open work with a decorated blue and white floral inner vase that can be seen though the porcelain carved outer shell with a flashlight or in bright sunlight. This vase measures 15.5inches tall and 9.5 inches wide at the widest point. It weighs about 12 pounds.
There is gold paint lining around each edge of the open work around the landscape panels and also along the orange lower neck rim and the top rim of the vase. There are a few small black spots on the vase that can not be rubbed off. One is on the base near the mark and one is on the inside. The vase is in perfect condition and a real rare beauty. It has been cleaned up a bit from the dust it had on it in storage. The mark on the bottom is in blue and says " Qing The Great Qian Long". For me what really stands out about this vase is the unique colors represenative of the creative and innovative colors Qing porcelain artists created. Also the three landscape painted round panels are painted with wonderful detail. A good idea of what the poems say is that they are about the beauty of the mountains, the cherry tree , a beautiful country home and possibly about going fishing as you can see tiny figures on boats fishing . There is someone crossing a bridge in one of the paintings as well. This vase posses such beauty that it brings about highly sentimental and nostalgic emotions when gazed upon. If your in love with poetic porcelain this will be a most loved shinning star in your collection!
This beautiful pastel Qing marked vase is now on preview for auction at Michaan's Auctions Auctioneers and Appraisers in Alameda CA.

For Auction is a very nice piece of art pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a Vase and the pattern is known as "Tourmaline". The Vase measures 5 1/8" tall and is approximately 6 1/4" in diameter. The inside opening of the Vase measures 3 7/16" wide.
The Vase depicts a wonderful Jade or Teal Blue/Green mottled Glaze. This piece is all about the Glaze and simplicity of its form. There are five horizontal raised rings at the upper portion of the Vase with four evenly spaced Vertical raised ribs or panels. This Vase would be a welcome addition to any Arts and Crafts or even an Art Deco Decor.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent to Mint Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. This Vase is very clean and I believe this piece saw minimal use and was very well taken care of. The piece is unsigned but guaranteed to be Vintage Roseville. This particular line was usually unsigned. It more than likely had an original Roseville Pottery silver foil label that fell off over time or washing. The shape number is known as 238-5" in the Roseville Catalog pages.
The Vase was made Circa 1933. « Less

For Auction is a large Art Pottery Vase made by "The Saturday Evening Girls" or "Paul Revere Pottery Company" of Boston, Mass. This splendid form I would call a "Tapered Wide Mouth Shoulder Vase". The Vase is quite large as it stands 10 1/2" tall and is 5 3/4" in diameter at the shoulder. The mouth or opening of the Vessel is 3 1/4" in diameter inside measurement and 4" outside.
The Vase displays a very deep and rich Country Blue Glaze with black speckling throughout. The Glaze is a Semi-Gloss Glaze and it is clearly a SEG original Glaze. This Vase is considered a hand thrown piece of Art Pottery as you can feel the finger grooves on the inside. The Vase is quite heavy as I would guess it weighs 6-7 pounds. This form is a real favorite with the Arts and Crafts Aficionados.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few very minor scratches in the glaze and can only be seen at an angle when held to the light. The piece is unsigned but there is no mistaken this to be Saturday Evening Girls (SEG) or Paul Revere Pottery Vase. Paul Revere Pottery is a later extension of the SEG Pottery Company. SEG pieces were usually signed in fired black ink on the bottom by the Artist's (2) Initials and dated Month-Year such as 11-24 for November 1924. The later pieces after 1926 only carried a Paul Revere Pottery Label. In this case I believe this to be a later period SEG or Paul Revere Pottery piece. The label simply came off, probably from cleaning over the years.
I had a smaller version of this Vase that was sold awhile back. That one is clearly marked with the "Paul Revere Pottery" circular mark and is dated 9-25 in black ink. I can send you pictures if you desire. You will clearly see this large pot is definitely made by The Paul Revere/SEG Pottery Company of Boston, Mass.
For those of you who want to learn more about SEG/Paul Revere Pottery I will attach a link to a web page that gives a brief but very descriptive information about them. Here it is http://www.journalofantiques.com/Jan06/feature.html just click on this link and it will bring you to it.
This is a quality solid piece of Art Pottery. I'm quite sure the Buyer will be extremely pleased with their purchase. This piece was made Circa, 1926-1930. « Less

For Auction I have a very nice Art Pottery Vase made by The Van Briggle Pottery Company of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Vase is done in a Popular Two Toned Glaze. The Vase More »
For Auction I have a very nice Art Pottery Vase made by The Van Briggle Pottery Company of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Vase is done in a Popular Two Toned Glaze. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 7 9/16" tall and is 4 1/2" in diameter at the shoulder.
The Vase has a wonderful Pattern of Embossed Arts and Crafts Stylized Vertical Leaves. These leaves somewhat resemble Tobacco Leaves. The Vessel is Cylindrical in shape and sits on a round shallow foot. These Wide Tall Leaves start just above the bottom roll on the vase and rise up to the lower neck or upper roll. The detail and crispness of the leaves is just splendid. The Vase displays a wonderful Two Toned Glaze. The background of the Vase is a deep Matte Mulberry or "Burgundy" Glaze. It is accented with a Speckled Country Blue overspray on top of the Leaves. This is an early and very well executed Glaze combination.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent to Mint Condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece shows minimal signs of use as it is as clean inside as it is outside. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Van Briggle's Incised Double A logo for Artus and Anna Van Briggle along with the Block Lettering "VAN BRIGGLE Colo. SPGS". The Vase has a Sandy buff bottom which helps date this piece to the 1920's.
This is a nice early piece of Van Briggle in a very desired Glaze. It is known as shape number 852 in the Van Briggle Catalogue. This is a Rare Form and seldom seen, even on Ebay. I'm sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. « Less

For sale is a wonderful Arts & Crafts design vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Vase stands 5 1/8" tall and is approximately 4 3/4"wide at the belly and 3" at the outside top rim.
The Vase displays a very pleasing Mauve Background Glaze with a light sage green over spray. There are five Arts and Crafts Designed Mock Turtle Back Panels that resemble Chicago Crucible's 4 lobed version of this form. These are done in high raised relief. There is also a collar of white evenly spaced small circles at the neck of the vessel that completes this Arts & Crafts Design.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Piece is signed with Rookwood's Impressed Reverse "RP" and Sunburst Logo along with the Roman Numerals "XXVII" for the year of manufacture, 1927. There is also the mold number "2838" impressed under the date.
This will make a wonderful addition to any Matte Pottery Collection and would look just great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. It is simply amazing that this has survived 83 years without a flea nick. « Less

For Sale is a beautiful Vase made by Roseville Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern name is know as "Wisteria" and it is a highly sought after pattern by Roseville Pottery Collectors. It is done in their Predominately Blue Tone Background Color. This is the most desirable of the Wisteria Glazes. The Vase is a large size as it stands 8 1/4" Tall and is 7 3/4" in diameter outside Handles measurement.
The Vase displays a wonderful blue drip glaze on a sandy colored Tree Bark Textured background glaze. The glaze is wonderfully executed. It is accented with embossed Lilac Wisteria's Drooping down from a cluster of Sage Green Leaves surrounding the neck of the Vase. This is true for the opposite side of the vase as well. The Piece displays two wonderfully applied triangular shaped handles that start just under the top lip and attach to the waist of the vessel. These are done in a Mottled Caramel, Butterscotch Glaze with a touch of the deep blue over glaze.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks, dings. The piece is unsigned, but does have writing on the bottom in a Blue Grease pencil or blue glaze. There is a cursive "J 9sx" with "1 98 and a large letter W". There is also a letter "L" above all these marks. I believe these to be the finishers mark. The 1.98 is written like it was a price amount but I believe this piece sold for more than that when it was made.
This piece is known as 680-8" in the Roseville Catalog and was made Circa 1937. Those of you who collect this pattern will gladly welcome this addition. Truly a Great example to add to your Wisteria Collection. « Less
