Mint condition—no chips, cracks or repairs—on this vintage 1970’s Italian Murano art glass figurine of a rooster. As shown, this large figurine is made of crystal, milk, red and orange glass and is entirely hand-crafted with a pontil mark on the bottom. Sitting atop a swirled pedestal base, this rooster has a large, curved tail, open wings and beak, as if just ready to greet the morning. This figurine measures an impressive 12 ¼” wide by 13 ¼” tall and is a vintage (not modern) piece of Murano. A great opportunity to add an impressive piece to your collection.   « Less

A great and unusual pair of vintage silhouettes. As shown, this original matching pair of reverse painted silhouettes on convex glass features polychrome decoration of a young girl in 1940’s attire. In one silhouette, she sits at a writing desk with a long pen quill in her hand, dressed in a long pink dress with green trim at the bottom and a green bow in her hair. A pair of silhouettes hangs on the wall just behind her. This silhouette has a small nip (at about the 3:30 mark) of the exterior edge paper that wraps from the back. The second silhouette shows the same girl seated at a piano, paying from sheet music with music notes aloft in the air. Interesting, she wears a long green dress with pink frill and a pink flower in her hair. There are seven silhouettes that hang on the wall in an arc over the piano. This silhouette has lost some of the edge black paper wrap at the nine o’clock position and a significant amount at the 12-1 o’clock position. In addition, there is a fold in the satin at this position. This may look like a crack in the photo, but it is not in the glass, but the background. Each silhouette measures just under 6” in diameter. Really a beautiful and unusual set.   « Less

Art Glass : A Maltese Mdina glass Vase - circa 1970's - Limited Edition A hand blown Maltese Mdina glass Vase signed and paper label showing limited edition 19/300 - Very nice piece - Michael Harris design Circa: 1970's Good Condition 5.5 inches (14cm) height approx Signed : Mdina and Paper Label heavy item (probably over 2 kilos packaged - pick up welcome NW6 / London -we always refund excess shipping back to the client The Mdina Glass factory was founded in Malta in 1968 by Michael Harris (1933 – 94), an ex- RCA tutor, who was inspired by the scenery on the island, and the colours used in the glass reflect the sun, sea and sand of the landscape. Due to the political situation he left in 1972 and set up the Isle of Wight Glass factory. Since 1981 the Mdina factory has been run by Joseph Said, one of the original apprentices, and is still producing high quality glass. The pieces from the early years are highly desirable, particularly those signed by Michael Harris himself.   « Less
