Look at the details, the carving and the old wron gold leaf on the carved details. They do not need to be reupholstered. We are trained to notice these pertinent details and to educate you as well and now compare it to others that are more commonly available and see that the difference becomes clear. This piece would retail for 2000.00 in a major metropolitan antique store of distinction. The bed is slightly narrower than a standard twin bed but is the right length so you may have to dispense with the boxspring and place the mattress on thick plywood and on top of the rails to make it work correctly. This 1920s French Louis XVI style bed is in excellent condition and is made of walnut with some subtle gilded highlights. The carving is not overdone and is quite nice. It features the full fluted columns and carved cartouche that you expect to see. The bed is close to a standard twin but is slightly narrower at 37 inches compared to 39 inches. This is easy to overcome, ask me how. There are several methods to use this bed right away. The bed is in excellent condition and needs no work or repair. This bed features a banded carving that wraps around the base all the way to the top. There are some nice foliate details above the legs and along the top. You are able to see the attention to detail by observing the fluting in the legs complimenting the carved trim that goes throughout the bed''s base. The cane in the headboard is in good condition with no large holes.This bed goes by European bed standards, so measure your mattress to see if it will fit. For a nominal fee, we are able to extend the rails to your liking or purchase new upholstered ones from us. The rail extending is all done by hand, so it will take about 2 weeks to complete.
