Antique Victorian artist signed spittoon by Doulton Lambeth. Made in England late 19th century (1891 - 1900), & signed by artist Emily J Partington. Measurements:height - 3 1/2 inches; diameter 7 1/2 inches. Drum shaped spittoon. Sloping top with two holes in center and side for sanitary uses. Deep blue colour with earthy blue border. Sides have classic Doulton Lambeth moulding and combination of blue, white, ochres and earthy brown tones. A central band of raised ovals, immitating a ring of jewels with white beadwork around it. These are surrounded by raised ochre parallel strips and an oval ring of raised foliage in light blue fading to white. An insised ring seperates a blue ground area from borders with brown ground and mirror-image delicate raised tri-part foliage. There are a number of marks under the spittoon, which is a light tan-brown. 8834; DOULTON LAMBETH ENGLAND and ha. Artist signature done by hand is EP for Emily J Partington who was at the Doulton factory for quite a few years between 1876 and 1912. She was listed in 1882 as a senior assistant. Condition is very good. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any consequence. THere is very minor, negligible surface scratching to the top, natural after more than 100 years and similar very minor kiln cracks, mentioned only for the sake of total accuracy and not to be confused with damage of any sort. Thanks to Malcolm D for generous help. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3845 Condition: good Year: 1890 Title: ANTIQUE RARE DOULTON LAMBETH SPITTOON SIGNED COBALT « Less

Antique porcelain perfume bottle with cavoting figures. Made 19th century, Germany or England. Measures 3 3/4 inches high. Round base with a central pillar, entirely More »
Antique porcelain perfume bottle with cavoting figures. Made 19th century, Germany or England. Measures 3 3/4 inches high. Round base with a central pillar, entirely covered with applied foliage and colourful flowers. 3 people and a dog are modelled in a continuous scene around the pillar. A chicken perches on a nest forming the cap / lid of the bottle. The scene is very likely taken from the Commedia dell'' Arte with a crouching Columbine in brightly spotted yellow sheet, the fond lover and a scurrilous knave hiding on the other side, holding his dog on a lead (Pierrot and Scaramouche ?). The extreme gestures and poses are typical of these amusing scenes. The characters are all brightly dressed with handpainted detailing & gilding to their costumes, hair and facial features. The stopper, is in the form of a chicken sitting on a nest - one wing slightly stretched out as though she is either precariously perched or shocked at the shenanigans beneath her. There is not a clear mark. There is a raised section under the base, but it is not legible. Antique Delft blue and white handpainted letter holder. Made by Royal Bonn, Germany 1880-1910. Measures:slightly over 6 1/4 inches high; 7 3/4 inches accross the widest More »
Antique Delft blue and white handpainted letter holder. Made by Royal Bonn, Germany 1880-1910. Measures:slightly over 6 1/4 inches high; 7 3/4 inches accross the widest point and a little over 4 1/2 inches front to back. Rococco style pottery with moulded shells and scrolls on the rims, both upper and lower. The entire ceramic body is glazed in white and handpainted in blue patterns, with lots of scattered flowers, foliage and a classic Dutch farm scene with outbuildings and windmills in the landscape. Even the back has been painted and is very attractive. T are 3 compartments for holding papers. The letter opener narrows slightly towards the front, so that you can see a little of the decoration on the sides at all times. Marked underneath in handwritten blue underglaze: Royal Bonn ''Delft''. Also a number of handwritten numerals 4357 / J 42 and 257. T are some impressed marks in the center of the bottom, but they are not legible. Condition is extremely good. T are two tiny areas of glaze loss on the back legs, presumably as a result of being set down repeatedly. One is the size of a fleabite and the other is well under 1/4 inch at it''s widest. Both do not have any depth. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration of any sort to be found. Note: Royal Bonn 1836-1921, when it was bought by Villeroy & Boch and then closed in 1931.
