A late Georgian period cream or sauce tureen circa 1810. "Fisherman & Castle" blue and white transfer pattern. Information relating to this rare pattern can be found the publication "True Blue" by Gayle Blake Roberts. This small eyebath shaped tureen comes with a fixed base. This tureen comes with matching sifter type ladle which would separate the cream curd from the whey. These ladles themselves are extremely rare. The seller is English, living in France. Beautiful Susie Cooper Printemps tureen. Made in the Crown Works, circa 1930s. Lid is reversible - you can turn it over, and it will stand like a dish, supported by the flat top of the lid and the handle. Very innovative design for the period. Measures 26 cm wide handle to handle, and about 12.7 cm high. Very good condition, no chips, not even any crazing - just one tiny tight brown incipient hairline between one set of handles - only extends 7 mm and not going anywhere.   « Less

A stunning Spode's New Stone tureen on raised base, with fitted stand and notched dome lid. Butterfly handles with beautiful gilt accents, in an early 'Japan' pattern, reminiscent of contemporary Mason's patterns or the slightly later 'Amherst Japan' pattern. Underglaze blue, with masses of overpainting by hand - iron red, cobalt blue, turquoise and green, highlighted with rich gilding in excellent order. The tureen and stand are in first class condition, showing little sign of wear in its 180+ years. Two tureens are available, very rare to find in this condition. Impressed 'Spode's New Stone' and painted number 3875 (by 1824 the Spode pattern books were up to 4000). Measurements are 8" X 6.50" $625 each, + shipping.   « Less
