Unusual brooch - a large amethyst mounted in a crenulated 18ct yellow gold setting. Pin at rear curves to accommodate facets of the stone, so you couldn't have this brooch on thick fabric. I would think that this has been made from a necklace - I have several other pieces (rings etc) with the same mount from the same family, so probably a damaged necklace was dismantled and made into other items. Brooch measure 1.7 cm by 2.2 cm. Excellent condition. Late 19th to early 20th century. « Less

Central stone has square surround, with two small flanking stones set into tapering leaf shapes. Face of ring measures 7 mm by 13 mm. Central stone is approx. 1.5 to 2 mm diameter. Band is 2 mm diameter. Stamped inside band "9ct and Plat". Ring fitting is English size N (USA size 6.1/2) with an internal diameter of 16.92 mm.
